How good is Necromancer for pet summons?

I'm thinking about getting the DLC when the game goes on sale next week, the main thing that interests me is the Necromancer class. I kinda wanna play like a sort of pet master class, relying on my minions to fight for me as much as I can. How does the Necro hold up for that?

More then doable. & make sure to put points into your pets dont divide between too many skills. Also theres is pet threads on crates official forums. Check out Maya pet threads. Shes the expert.

They're pretty good now, though still more fragile than other pets.

Have a look at Maya's pet builds thread. She has a Skull & Bones build in there which is one of her top ones.

Pet builds are extremely viable in GD. What's great about Grim Dawn is there is tons of ways to play pet classes.

Right now playing Cabalist (Necromancer + Occultist). Focus is on Skeletons/Hellhound/Blight Fiend. Might change it up as level up (Will spare you why)

As someone said Maya is pretty much the go to on pet builds. They have forgotten more than I know haha.

Regardless yes it's viable. Very much so.

Ritualist - Necro+Shaman - MYTHICAL FULL beastcaller set gives extra Briarthorn summon. Dirge of Arkovia Relic gives big skellie summon. Book of Og'napesh offhand gives a ?fire knight? summon. Necklace Heart of the Mountain gives yeti summon(good luck finding this one).

I haven't played in some time so i'm sure i'm missing some things but this build will overwhelm virtually anything.

i've been looking at the patch and i have trying to understand what you meant but i don't see it. Could you please point it out ?

oh thanks, i hadn't realized that amulet changed so much.

edit: oh yeah, it's a shaman skill sigh... trudges onward.

actually looks like the lost souls set will be the one i aim for for my current build.

What do you mean vitality based skeletons? That item doesn't affect pets at all.
