Sigil of Consumption vs Doom Bolt
What do you think. I like Doom Bolt but don't much like the cooldown.
SOC seemed to be more effective all in all for mobs

different skills
sigil is an aoe, with leech
doom bolt is a nuke
combine both and you have something fantastic
exactly, also doom bolt is the highest damage skill in the game.
There are items for cooldown reduction and there's always arcanist star pact where the cooldown reduction is worth having on it's own.

Welp I'm a Warlock so yes, I never used star pact before in my last Arcanist play was based on AAR. Yes I was looking into items that reduce cooldown - mostly focus do that it seems. Unfortunately doesn't seem to be a component or augment that does that.
Right now I have chaos AAR, I still use curse of frailty as my first cast on a mob since it lowers their resistances then use doom bolt, I was using the sigil before but took all the points out to increase my occultist mastery level.
I'm also using the arcanist OFF to lower their fire resistance then blast them with the chaos/fire AAR
Also dreeg's eye- my build is mostly all occultist other than AAR and a few of the passive arcanist skills, Maiven's too etc. I wanted to use at least one skill with % weapon damage, and I like a variety of damage types to use
My conjurer useS both. Sigil for life steal and doom bolt for burst damage.

I'm actually thinking of sacrificing Chaos AAR (tainted power) and going back to sigil.
One doesn't want too many skills. AAR is like a fire hose and fun, great for clearing rooms and finding hidden passages but idk. I always wanted to use the chaos AAR when I was an arcanist, but was set up for Aether damage
Doom Bolt has such a cool visual effect and sound

I tried AAR with spellbinder. It was fun at first, but once she reached level 67 I felt bored and prefers experimenting with a new character, a nightblade instead. At the moment, I prefer nightblade gameplay than AAR.
why not use both? they share damage types, cover different niches, and both have a cooldown. imo those are bread and butter skills for chaos damage casters that aren't just using transmuted AAR.

Yeah it gets a little easy too - not sure what difficulty you play but I still play elite, haven't even tried all the masteries yet. Especially those with physical/pierce "warrior" types like soldier, nightblade and oathkeeper.

As far as not using both I use DEE for acid/poison damage and it's got a % main hand ability.
Don't want to turn into a button smasher lol

I have just beaten ultimate using vitality caster conjurer and it was easy because of large amount of life steal.

Now playing melee blademaster in elite. This character is much less tanky than my conjurer, but I find that the gameplay is fun.

Edit: I only have AOM dlc, so not playing SR.

What do you mean by SR - haven't memorized all the abbreviations lol
Why don't you have FG? It's cool. Plus you get the inventor transmute ability, where you can trade in extra set items for one you don't have
SR is the Shattered Realm, an endless dungeon available in the Forgotten Gods expansion.

Which I hardly touched. There's some good rewards for completing those yes?
Yes, it's very good for loot if you can get to the higher shards - 65/66 and 75/76.
SR75-76 is basically the endgame farming zone, gives tons of legendaries and blueprints. SR90+ is largely played to test build power.
