Question about - Kalderos of the "Order of Death's Vigil"
Hey guys, so I find myself right now in quite a predicament. So there is this ghost guy in "Broken Hills" who will first give you a quest to clean up some easy dungeon, I do it all good but now tells me to go to other dungeon where he will wait for me. Okay, so I go into this dungeon only to be met with some currently high level enemies INFRONT of a locked gate that also need a skeleton key to open. Which only tells me that (probably) even more high lvl enemies are beyond that gate, and I don't want to waste my key for nothing. So I planned to come back later and finish this quest for "Kalderos" when I lvl up. See, now this wouldn't be a problem if the ghost in question wasn't from the: "Order of Death's Vigil" since I do want to complete this trail of his to see what will happen but I plan to join the: "Chosen of Kymon" which are enemies of Death's Vigil. I can't really lvl up more to complete this quest first without chosing a side and progressing with story (to gain more lvling terrain). So my question: Can I chose to join "Chosen of Kymon" and the ghost "Kalderos" will remain friendly or will I have to grind some lvls with the mobs I have, finish the quest and only then join "Chosen of Kymon"?

Hmmm, Okay, cool... I hope you're right, because he does have the faction icon beside his name and it also states my reputation with the "Order of Death's Vigil". Did you try this before?

Uhhh, well... I think it's designed that way so it doesn't occur like that. It would be a bit odd to softlock you out of some quests just because of your actions.

There is also a chit-chat with some "Order" guys around Forgotten Gods zone, where (even tho u are with kymon) they don't attack you but they hate u alittle bit tho.

Oh, ok cool. Should be good then. Tnx!
worth to note Kalderos' quest doesn't actually take place behind the skeleton gate it you notice
his quest is about killing the boss in front of the gate (he then serves as introduction to skeleton key dungeons)
but Flaming is correct, you can safely do the quest (and the kill 3 ghost boss quest before), because "for some reason", despite being given to you by death's vigil dude, it doesn't give death vigil rep, nor is it a part of that faction choice, but just some world lore flavour

Oh, ok, tnx for clearing that up. Well, I didnt do the skeleton key dungeon yet, but I'am sure the ghost guy said "an even greater task is ahead of you" - or something of the sort... So even If I clear the skeleton key dungeon he won't *poof* from thin air when I kill the boss and say "great job, take exp reward" xD?
sadly his interaction ended with the kill zarthuzellan quest and giving you the skeleton key as reward
he's just telling you about the dangers of skeleton dungeons, sorta like an introduction, not an actual quest

however there will be a quest in said key dungeon if you decide not to kill someone and unlock a new faction.

... It's my first playthrough, but I play normal + veteran. I can't put bigger difficulty, it's locked for some reason.

Steps of Torment is pretty easy even on Ultimate, so I don't really know what they're talking about (seems to be trolling in several posts). The difficulties are locked until you beat the final boss of the original campaign. Beating it on normal / veteran unlocks elite, and beating it on elite unlocks ultimate.

Do bigger diffs only reduce your resistances or does everything else also do more dmg/more HP?
higher difficulties reduce your resists, enemies have more health, more damage, and quests are worth more xp. normal and elite are essentially an extended tutorial, ultimate is where the game brings in actual difficulty.
also worth noting that normal and elite stop levelscaling eventually, ultimate does not.

In higher diff things do get stronger all around (more debuffs and other things).

IMO SoT is at it's hardest on normal/vet, 1 room in particular is easy to get killed in if you do not have good wave clear, so no harm in waiting and no rush to do it. If I ever bother to do it on normal I wait to get the quest from the optional faction, that is if you do not gnuff them out of existence.
