Pet DOT damage
So despite my many hours played I have never played pet builds that much and when I did they were elemental based, never DOT based.

I tried looking this up but information on it is patchy, and frankly It became tiresome chasing old google links that didnt exist due to the Crate forum change. So for pet lovers out there, do pets apply DOTs as a seperate source each or do they share same DOT damage and simply reapply, I presume the latter but I would like it confirmed (or not)

So lets say I have 3 skeletons and have a bonus of 50 bleed damage to pets from gear does each Skeletons 50 Bleed damage count as a separate source of damage (as in the skeleton itself is the source) or do they share the source (as in the gear is the source)

I'm not sure but this lonely little thread got one reply (from someone I've never seen before) confirming that they stack..

Edit: just found this:

Hmm thats still oddly unclear, its a strange one Im genuinely intrigued now I do err on the side of they don't cause it would be too powerful otherwise, but it just seems odd that a devotion that adds a measly say 50 bleed would be just as good on 1 pet as 20. On the other hand it does open up a new idea for a weird build I was having.

Was originally going to be using bleed (I rarely if ever see it used for pets) and then going with lots of pets to keep lots of small bleed amounts stacked. But I suppose if its as I suspect I could just go with like 1 briarthorn as it won't make barely any difference having 1 vs a whole gang of pets.

Did some limited testing on an old pet build I had, far from conclusive but it does seem to mirror what that thread says that they merely refresh dots rather than apply their own versions of it.

I can't answer your question just yet Rod, I'll try to test it tomorrow if I get a chance, but what I will say as piece of advice in general for playing a pet build esp. for the 1st time.

Be careful what pet build you play! Sounds stupid right?

But having played LOTS of pet builds I can safely say most are boring but safe. The only pet build I've played that's genuinely fun (and funny) to play and engaging is a Diviner's/Bys Trinks Cabalist.

So if you don't want to be put off pets for life - go Diviner's Cabalist 1st. ;)

Do they stack really? I feel they don't. I run a Blight Fiend poison build and it doesn't look like the DOTs stack. The damage never goes up over a certain tick number no matter how long the boss fight takes, so I am taking that as it just refreshing over and over.

Bys pets is awesome. Mine is a Conjurer instead of Cabalist and I went all Lightning with the dual Odin's Ravens. I don't have Diviner set, if I did I'd try a Cabalist too.

For the Bleed Pet build I think you'd still want to have two pets. Briar will be your primary source of bleed for obvious reasons, but there are multiple devotions you want to run and you probably would rather automate it with the pets. You probably want to use Rend, Blind Fury, Living Shadow, Howl. Howl and Living Shadow don't go on the pets so you put that on your support skills Devouring Swarm and Curse of Frailty. Then you put Blind Fury on the Briar, and Rend on your other Pet. Or alternately use a third support skill and put Rend on that, then if you can fit Falcon Swoop in (I think you can combine all these devotions in one build) on the other pet.

That's how I'd do it I think.

Yeah I have played them before one of my original characters pre release AOM was a shaman/occultist pet build using the beastcaller set, a little while after AOM came out i had a reasonably strong skelemans build, but I just never found either engaging. I toyed with a diviner build for a while but never enjoyed it really, tbh the only reason I asked was cause i like trying to make weird build ideas work and bleed pets is not something I ever see done, probably for good reasons as it turns out lol
