Diablo style auto map?
I dont like the mini map in the right corner, is there a way to center the map semi-transparent on my character like in Diablo? I keep having to pull up the regular map with M and its annoying

No there isn't. Personally I prefer the mini map, but I have played hundreds of hours so don;t need the map that often.
Medierra from way back when:

"The decision to not have a translucent overlay like D2 was actually a deliberate one. It was influenced by my own experience playing D2. There was a point where I realized I wasn't really having that much fun anymore with D2 and I started to wonder why that was - was I just getting sick of the game finally? Eventually it dawned on me that I wasn't having that much fun because I wasn't even really paying attention to the game. I would just constantly focus on the mini-map and not even really look at what was going on during combat. I found that when I turned the map off or at least minimized it I started having a lot more fun again.

I think there is a struggle with games between efficiency and fun / immersion. I feel that being able to play effectively with a large version of the map over the screen comes at the expense of fun.

You might say - why not leave that up to the player? Well, the problem is that most players, when they find themselves in a situation like I did in my experience with the D2 auto-map, won't stop and wonder why the game got less fun, they'll just stop playing.

This is one of those really difficult issues where it is hard to know for certain what the right answer is but my gut instinct is that this would be bad."

I just bound the map key to a thumb mouse button and now I can reopen it instantly anytime I need. With mkb you can even control your character while having the map open so lack of transparency isnt that big of a deal. It gets to a point you can do it midst combat. On the other hand, the cited response here seems very sensible and I've already found myself ignoring gameplay for the sake of maximizing map efficiency. Imo they should also restrict character movement when map is open to better facilitate what they re trying to do. All that being said, corner minimap in grim dawn is utterly worthless and it wouldn't make a difference if it wasnt there.

Well, you can turn it off if you want. Triangular icon on the righthand side of the HUD will make it larger or disappear altogether.
I don't know, i didn't find the Minimap useless, but rather the sweetspot between helping out for certain areas to find your way around if you're stuck, but also not too focusing on it like the Response mentioned.

Good to know, I guess I got so used to it now I just assume it's standard in ARPG. Persoanlly I love it because with D2 I just toggled it off once I memorized the main non-dungeon areas but the thing about it is, it's great for quickly checking your routes without pulling up a big opaque block map and obscuring the entire screen for a few seconds - at least with the automap overlay I can see what's going on around me still, as I like to play fast and furious it doesn't slow me down at this point... so it's the lesser of two evils IMO.
