I vote Vigil because all my homies hate Kymon's lunatics.
personally i like to pick both eventually, but if i'm "forced" i usually pick kymon because they have vitalit+chaos armor augment which no one else does apparently, and i find Death's Vigil augment a little more niche/situational, where +9chaos%vit is alround useful
as for getting both, in case you were curious, i usually pick Kymon on playthrough 1, get exalted, buy a backup stack of their augments, then pick death's vigil on other playthrough, getting me all augments from both factions, and getting to smack Iron Maiden around on top
(you can ofc do it the other way around if you prefer)
Im still very new to the game and didn't know you could get both from getting each on a different difficulty. Cheers for the recommendation!
Think i will go order for the pierce damage pieces. Cheers!
- reason i mentioned i buy a backup stack of augments, is when you make a different choice/swap faction later on other playthrough, the other faction becomes hostile/vendor unavailable - so will have to get by on the ones bought earlier
^you don't get access to both factions at same time by making different choice on next playthrough, reputation carries through/backwards, so if you are hostile on Ultimate, even if you were friendly on Normal, you will now be hostile on Normal too
I think im wrong, do you mean choose the other faction on a different difficulty play through
or on a 2nd character play through
reputation carries over to next difficulty, but if you change reputation status it also carries backwards,
meaning if you are friendly with Kymon on Normal, buy augments, whatever, - then go friendly with Vigil on Elite(2nd playthrough/difficulty) it's auto hostile with Kymon, and that reputation change will carry backwards to Normal, so you can't buy there augments anymore - hence "backup stack"
^(because Kymon/Vigil are mutually exclusive/enemies so you can't be friendly with both at same time)
Ahh I see, So for example go kymons on normal and even elite, buy all augments and have lots of backup from them, then on Elite/Ultimate you choose deaths vigil but making sure you have everything you want from kymons before choosing?
Thanks for the info much appreciated
The only downside is if you do not have access to mandates as you will push getting revered quite a bit later than usual, meaning late access to the armor augments.
I agree with gNuff that the Kymon armor augment is usually the nicest out of both factions, but then each gives access to specific bosses.
Aligning with Kymon means you can fight:
early on:
Master Ravok - https://www.grimtools.com/monsterdb/578/items
Malkadarr - https://www.grimtools.com/monsterdb/579/items
Later on Nemesis:
Zantarin - https://www.grimtools.com/monsterdb/1156/items
Aligning with Death's Vigil means you can fight:
early on:
Sister Bravna - https://www.grimtools.com/monsterdb/615/items
Archon Barthollem - https://www.grimtools.com/monsterdb/616/items
Later on Nemesis:
The Iron Maiden - https://www.grimtools.com/monsterdb/1155/items
Nemesis are closer to end-game content and tougher than any of the usual game content bosses, earliest I think they can spawn is Elite but getting to Nemesis on the enemy faction can still take a bit of time.
Well learnt something new here :)
Are there any bosses that are elite upwards only?
I appreciate certain celestials are Ultimate only, just wonder why I had Elite stuck in my mind.
I am probably conflating celestial best MI drop and difficulty with that of bosses, which I think best drops on Elite as well.
