Steps of Torment Help

A friend and I recently started playing this game and together, we recently cleared the Steps of Torment. Or rather, he did, and I was executed by Alkamos (he really lives up to his name). I cannot re-enter the Steps to try to defeat him again, even on single player. I am currently level 37, playing as a Warder who has unintentionally become a glass cannon. I'd appreciate any help with this, just want to defeat the Executioner so I can move on, it's bugging me and I'm out for vengeance. Thanks in advance.

can't enter roguelike/skeleton key dungeons twice in the same session, it's an all or nothing type deal, either you win+clear it or you die and restart it
i'd probably wait to tackle it until level 45 if in SP

Did you craft a new skeleton key? You need one to enter the dungeon.

Yep, we tried again today at level 43 and we're pretty sure he's even stronger than before, but I'm gonna give it a bit before we try again, since we need the blood to craft a key.

the steps of torment scale with the highest level character and it tends to go a couple of levels higher. it stops scaling at level 50 on normal difficulty. it is possible to beat it at lower levels, ive done it.
