I Get Bored Playing Grim Dawn
I never get very far because after a few hours it just starts feeling boring. I've never been past the second mini-boss, the spider queen thing or whatever (or is it a wasp queen?)...the one after Warden Krieg.

I've only played an Occultist-Nightblade (Witch Hunter?) because I don't own any of the expansions. The thing is, if I get bored this quickly with the base game, I don't think the expansions are going to be that much better, which is why I haven't got them yet.

There's just so much tedium in this game, from the crafting, to the lackluster loot, to the characters who are all voice by like three people...if that. It's grindy, that's for sure, but seems like little else than grind for it's own sake to me....

Yup. It's the gameplay that is supposed to be fun. If you don't enjoy the grind, the grind becomes pointless. So if you don't find it fun, it's definitely not the game for you, and that's okay. I've played many games I didn't end up enjoying. Just gotta try again with a different game lol.

sorry you are not enjoying your game play. you haven't got on with the gear improvement gear so many of us love. the game can be rewarding is you don't mind grinding gear sets for different characters. i really enjoy more purifier totally decked out and my summomer with all the pets. too bad you haven't found that fix. might want to try some videos on youtube looking for other play styles. if not time to move on. it's only a game

I think the loot is this game's greatest strength, actually. It seems there's no end to the interesting finds that inspire me to try a new build, and clearing totems and defeating bosses to get showered with new and potentially exciting gear pieces never gets old. What DOES get old for me, and the game's biggest flaw for me personally, is the map never changing. I would love it if this game was more like Diablo 2 or Torchlight 2, which had several different fixed layouts per map per character file. Doing the same exploration and going through all the motions through the same maps gets somewhat tiring for me. Thankfully the looting mostly makes up for it.

If you've never made it to the end of Act 2, never mind then end of Normal then yeah, loot isn't going to be that great.

this. also I use to always have a hard time getting through act 2 at first as well until I discovered the rogue dungeon there. Probably one of my favorites because it feels like old school pen and paper dungeon crawling lol love that sheet. yeah loot is gonna suck for awhile bud but it gets crazy awesome later on.
not sure if playing a diff class would change things, there are a fair bit of decent mastery combos even with just base game
you could look up each mastery/class to see their different skills on youtube if that might trigger a tingle or poke a curiosity about a certain build

Even early lvls have better lot than all H&S, maybe except TQ. You simply dont like H&S games.

I feel you. Sunk 70 hours into the game and had my second playthrough, hit a brick wall at elite difficulty and a miniboss (the arena dudes in arkovia), who instagibbed me with 8000 health and maxed resistances. I think its a shame, the game is so full of potential, but also veeery long until you reach anything resembling an endgame. And it tries to overcomplicate some things which are hard to balance. Randomized loot with too many stats make it hard to find something thats worth wearing. My second character is a necromancer-occultist which is really fun to play, but I still wear some level 30 items at level 70, because the stats are just hard to replace or top.

nonono, this should never be the case
the default stat range from 30-70 is bigger so even a "bad" item will have more/better stats,
not to mention you can buy items, target farm items with specific stats, it should never be necessary to wear an item for 40 levels....

there are greens specific to the build, with a successful set of stats. And such a thing does not get knocked out in any way, because it is random. And now I have to wear it. I've had this happen several times, because bonuses with another skill, like damage conversion, skill expansion, turned out to be more important and more effective than the other one provided by epics, or even purple ones.
then you refarm the green in it's higher variant
there is never any reason to go with a vital item for 40 levels, ever
that's like 3 item iteration levels
aside from items base stats getting default higher, the affixes also get higher
you don't keep stuff like that for so long
it's why people die, lower stats than the need to
also need to keep in mind how attacks work, they roll on armor slots individually
so if you are wearing some low level gloves because they came with like 26attack speed, you can get 1 shot by big physical attack hitting your hands because your armor rating on that slot was way under level

repeated farming can be very tedious. For example, for a very long time I knocked out the Aether tome of the Terrnox at the level of 80-90, instead of 50.And even knocking out, I got the wrong stats at all. Fortunately, - 4 seconds to Devastation is an irremovable property.
And the same necklace\medal does not greatly affect the level of armor. You can also be patient.

indeed, luckily an offhand also rarely comes with vital defensive stats, so since it only boosts dmg, it doesn't fall in the category of vital items to upgrade frequently
if you wear the same armor pieces for 40 levels, that can however get you killed

In order to obtain the rewards of this game you must first and foremost embrace the process. If you're only searching for the endgame and the gameplay isn't something you want to invest in, then yes I can see it causing boredom. Hopefully you will give it another shot and will enjoy the game.

The Bloodsworn are on the lookout for blasphemers to add as meat for their stew. Don't worry if I see them I'll put in a good word for you.
