Take a look at your skills and identify a damage source you want to focus on (physical, vitality, cold, fire, etc). Now that you have your focus take a look at your devotions and have at it.
There certainly is more to what is effective for leveling/endgame/whatever, but right now just have fun.
Luckily, you can respec devotions and skill points, so play with stuff and have fun.
You can build a gunslinger for any element or damage type. So the best devotion depends on what type of damage you are doing, and indeed you might even opt not to focus on a damage devotion and instead focus on defensive devotions.
Even the type of gun you are using can change what devotion you might want. A two-handed rifle over a pistol or dual pistols might want a different devotion, there are devotions that focus on 2H weapons.
Don't worry too much about "Best in Slot" or "Min Maxed" builds you can change all of this later when you feel like it. The only thing you can't change without hacking is your mastery selection. Everything else from devotions to skills can be changed, so don't worry too much. Just play with whatever skills you think are fun and then focus your devotions around those.
You can minmax any build in this game, once you have your skillset/devotions in place you can then use gear and augments to minmax it.
If you're using a 2h gun you can't go wrong with the Kraken (up around the top middle of the devotion tree, closer to the left side), don't take it if you're doing pistol and shield or dual wielding though, and there's a good generic one for any ranged weapon build called Hydra (around the middle left of the devotion tree, towards the lower middle)
Beyond that there's not really to much else so just kind of build for your damage type.
Weapons comes in various flavors (two handed, dual wield, cold, fire, lightning, etc). Depending on what you decide to use, will dictate what devotions you will go with.
Also, depending on the gear you currently have, you may be lacking in some areas, such as defense. You may decide to sacrifice some DPS to pick up some more defensive-centric devotions.
You question isn't as simple as you think it is.
Grimtools has a build calculator that you can use to map out and compare stats for equipment and devotions. I suggest you play more and/or take a look at that to come up with some better questions that can actually be answered. To answer it as it is now would basically be asking someone to write you a game guide.
yes, i am prefer that my char is using 2h guns, not 1h guns or dual 1h guns........
There is a really nice 2H Rifle for Poison, one for Bleed, and one for Lightning if I recall correctly. What you focus on will really depend on what gear drops for you, too. There's also one for Fire in a set, bu I didn't like the set too much after I completed it.
Anyway, when playing Grim Dawn I tend to build depending on what awesome loot dropped for me. I don't know how you're approaching it but keep that in mind.
