Clearly he didn't create it to be a competitor. I don't have a fanboy problem. You do. You are whiteknighting a mod that isn't comparable to the original. It's fine, man. Suck it up. I don't like it in comparison to the real thing.

Actually, I simply have little respect for those who dump on modders that spend years putting out work for others for free. Simple as that.

I didn't dump on him. I just said D2R is way more polished and better than his mod. I didn't say his ♥♥♥♥ sucked. Or it was total garbage. I just said D2R is better. If that is a problem, then it isn't me with the problem.

Y'all just like cuz it's free, and a part of a game you love. If you bought D2R you'd forget about RoT. Just saying.

Y'all wanna play D2, buy it. If you want to play a mod that has literally zero feel of D2, then don't buy it, and play RoT.

No matter which way you slice it you are crapping on it - "unfinished" is the word you used.. merely because you didn't like the GD items and masteries still in the game.

If you had been on the forum and done a little legwork you would know that removing all this isn't a small task.

Anyway, pretty sure it is definitely not being removed any longer.

That's fine, I'll be playing D2R. I got 70 hours out of RoT, so I played it plenty. RoT is irrelevant now.

I've played D2 and D1 - I've always loved the game and I've got nothing against D2:R. As far as if it is worth it, as you can see that is highly debatable on both sides and there are a number of people who feel it is no longer worth it. It will likely make them some money either way I'm sure.

For a mod in a foreign game engine, Ram (and those that helped him) did a pretty damned fine job replicating both D2 and D1 in the mod.

I believe in purity, and maintaining the integrity and love of the original. Neither version maintain that expectation of me. I didn't want the big stash, or the runewords being made non-ladder, but those are small things. I enjoyed RoT with the exception of a few minor things, and one major thing (imo, the GD items dropping) I think that folks that enjoy RoT, want to play a different version of GD. A D2 purist would have zero interest in RoT after the release of D2:R. We are two different people, and I come off as abrasive. I have also recently been through a trauma that could have caused a brain injury, so I may be more abrasive or confrontational than normal.

I have no intention of playing D2R, it's just a graphics overhaul of a game that needs a lot more polish for me to get interested in it. Haven't tried RoT, but I might, D2R I have no interest in.

One major thing I disliked about D2 was the ability to cast one skill/have one aura active at a time. Hell, Necromancer could only cast ONE debuff on mobs and that was it. Having to cycle through all the different skills to find the one you want, potions didn't stack, runes didn't stack.

RoT brings all the improvements over the years plus Grim Dawn's systems. Dual class, skill modifiers instead of just synergy, damage type conversions, devotions.

I played through Diablo 2 around 2012. Did the 3 difficulties as summoner Necro and it was just pretty boring. Didn't touch it again til like last year. RoT I found when only the first 2 acts were available. Restarted my char each time the next act came out.

That's good. You didn't grow up playing D2. I did. Anyone who actually got into D2 and D2 endgame wouldn't even be questioning RoT or D2R. It's a no-brainer if you were any good at D2 to begin with. You played in 2012, after numerous more modern and simpler ARPGs catered to your childish needs.

Presumption isn't a form of intelligence last time I checked.
Vicarious Visions and Blizzard has stated they're open to more changes after launch. Things like NHAM could be fixed, or we could see hotkeys like they're doing for console, or stacking potions/gems. D2R should be treated like the Tony Hawk remakes imo

I never played D2 before, so i don't feel nostalgic. Maybe that's why i like RoT ?

The ONLY ARPG/Isometric hack-n-slash I played before D2 was Champions of Norrath on the PS2.

my decision process; is the game made by or under the wing of harbourers and protectors of abusers?

hope helps.

♥♥♥♥ blizzard.
If you're perfectly happy with GD's systems, go for ROT. The modder did an excellent job capturing and translating what made D2 great in a more modern engine. It does need more polish, but it works.
Act VI is a ♥♥♥♥♥ tho. Butcher at even 4.5k OA is still no fun allowed.
