Hidden area between East Marsh and Smuggler's Basin
I'm in east marsh and can see an area on the left but the road to it is blocked by a huge tree trunk that kinda fell off. In grimtools website it says it has two totems and a boss named Galeslice the Ruthless. How do you get to this area?

Dear Eye of Crate, please take note and fix -_-

By buying Forgotten Gods.
Need the expansions to be able to play the new areas in v1.1.8.0.

i already have AoM and FG though. so the way to go to that area is to follow the npc through the portal? It's weird that the area is just between east marsh and smuggler's basin

if you own FG make sure your game is updated to 1.1.8.0 (and that FG is installed ie FG start menu background)
the way you then access that area is you go to East marsh, hug the zone down left/south west border, you will encounter fallen over "log", the tree is actually hollow and you can walk right through it as the entry point to the new area and slay Galeslice

No, that's nothing to do with the areas in East Marsh. That's how you access the Forgotten Gods content.

The green portal and the Emissary give you access to the Korvan Plateau area. This is a totally separate story line from that of AoM. You might want to go there, and join one of the three Cults now. This will let you buy one of the basic movement runes, which can be a help in combat. (check out the three cult vendors first to see which runes will benefit your build the most before deciding which one to join.)

You can then return to East Marsh to tackle the new Galeslice area. Or you can try your luck doing a few Shattered Realm runs; I suggest doing the first 5 shards to see how much experience and gear you get.

Note that there are new areas in several portions of the map. For example, I stumbled across one called the Arkovian Docks, purely by accident when one of my characters was heading to Tyrant's Hold ... the docks are just to the East of that.

Cross the bride into east marsh & hang far right/far left, you'll get to the areas. Forget about where Smuggler's Basin is, it's not a part of the equation.

After crossing the bridge (upon repairing it of course) hanging far left against the coastline (or far right, since there are areas on each side) you'll see the entrances to the areas, these areas are not hidden.

that doesn't make any more sense dude, you are telling someone to go in opposite directions, at the same time
^plus even for the new area Burrwich Cathedral i'd say it's not super accurate, since "far right" would probably be considered KalisKa area, and the cathedral is more North-northwest - which is still totally besides the point since OP was asking about the area south west....

yeah this was what i meant, i can't cross the tree trunk. I'l try later after work to see if it got fixed. May just have been a bug.

i haven't tried it myself at the tree, but i've had "impassable" bug in other door corridors. How those are solved are by reloading the trigger i guess, meaning stepping away a certain distance and then walking back - might be worth a try if it's that simple a fix, if not guess you just have to restart session like Wintermute suggest and wait for Crate to do a permanent fix

can't do that in roguelikes ;) - that's when you learn to try and fiddle your way through taking a "few" steps back and forth again (idono 25-50steps? how long is a "screen"?:wombatthink:)

I'm not speaking relative to camera position, I'm speaking relative to the the entrance to the area, to the bridge, there's 2 different areas there the cathedral & the area where galeslice is at going straight (instead of hanging on the left or right side of the swamp by the coast line) would take you to Kalis Ka. That's why I said left OR right, because they're on opposite sides of each other, obviously you can't go in the opposite direction at the same time. If the way I worded it was confusing to anybody that wasn't my intention, if you point the camera directly at the bridge, what I've just said makes perfect sense.
