Basically, this.
There's mods out there that'll allow you to adjust the difficulty or obtain certain attributes you couldn't gain till late game. It'd say for players like Crabby Appleton, look over the mods section and select your liking.
Otherwise, the new difficult adjustment is a welcomed one.
Glad they made these changes. Good stuff!
"everyone" died in veteran mode, not the normal mode...
The base reduction to resistance of Guardian of Empyrion has been reduced.
The Pyran's set bonus to GoE fire shred has been reduced to just 8%.
The GoE fire shred on the Pyran's Off-Hand is completely gone.
The GoE fire shred on Mythical Flames of Wrath is completely gone.
Why even bother with Shieldbreaker now? Thermite Mine is simply the better debuff now, so the whole reason to roll Demolitionist/Oathkeeper just doesn't exist anymore.
Why the hell wouldn't you just play a Sorcerer now? You're getting Maiven's Sphere, you're getting IEE, you're getting Arcane Will. Reckless power isn't any worse as your exclusive since all physical gets converted to fire anyways on your mortars.
The only reason you had to go with Oathkeeper was that huge fire resistance debuff from Guardians, which is now smaller than just going with Thermite mine.
And before anyone says "You're just mad that they nerfed your OP character" - Nerfs are fine, but they removed the whole reason why a class combination even existed. Shieldbreaker was worse than Sorcerer in every single way except the extreme fire shred, and they removed that.
If they can't hit somewhere in the gigantic space in between too powerful and completely pointless with their balance patch then they failed, plain and simple.
Dead builds everywhere!
I'm sorry we took your god-tier Shieldbreaker and made them only a demigod.
We are actually going to reduce the Health/Damage on Normal a little bit in the upcoming hotfix, but please do post your feedback if you find Normal to be overwhelming.
Base game bosses were woefully behind expansions bosses, so we brought them in line with those.
I'm not sure how I feel about doing a straight up story-mode. I think as long as Normal challenges a casual player, but doesn't feel frustrating, we'll be at a good place.
Veteran was my favourite difficulty since Early Access, but now it feels more like Elite to me.
I see myself being forced to a) switch down to Normal and lose the 10% XP bonus or b) to do a big big load of reading into the new mechanics and totally redesign my build. And i absolutely don't like both options, since i already sat a long time on looking very closely what to skill, which star signs to choose and which enchantments to put on my whole gear. It's very frustrating.
First of all, responding like this doesn't make you look like you know what you're doing, it just makes you look like you can't handle criticism and don't value your customers.
Secondly, as I stated in my post the problem isn't that you nerfed it, the problem is that you nerfed it by removing the only thing that made it a better choice than other classes without adding anything to compensate. If 70% fire shred is overpowered compared to 50% fire shred, ok, maybe it has to be normalized. But if I had to give up 20% absorb, 100% elemental damage, 12% OA, 30% CC reduction, 25% spirit, etc. just to get those extra 20% you can't simply remove them and call it balanced.
What do you get out of running Oathkeeper now? Two low damage pseudopets that don't tank and stick so close that they negate the range advantage of mortars, and Vire's Might? Maiven's Sphere all by itself is better than that.
It's not about wanting an overpowered character, it's about wanting a character that actually has a reason to exist. What is the selling point to Shieldbreaker now? This didn't balance anything, it just switched from Sorcerers being worse to Shieldbreakers being worse as a Pyran's MT build instead of actually giving both of them a point.
Let's be serious here: you literally called the work Zantai's done over the last month+ "trash." His post just makes it look like he isn't willing or required to fellate you for a few bucks.
I'm good thanks. Too busy valuing customers that aren't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. ;)
I don't know what to tell you. Your analysis of Shieldbreaker is just plain wrong.
+1
This is why indie developers are awesome. They don't have to hire PR experts and can just say it like it is.
Right, I'm the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I make a reasoned argument why I don't think your patch achieved it's aim, you call me a whiner like disagreeing with you is a character flaw I should be ashamed of.
How is my analysis of it wrong? What does Oathkeeper give you at this point that makes it a good choice? It's no longer a better way to debuff resistance, it's just a slightly different way to debuff resistance that comes at the cost of your whole secondary class basically.
