2) Warlord/Shieldbreaker: Captain America shield slinging baws, shieldbreaker being lit with fire (requires FG expansion)
3) Vindicator: 2hand Zeus/Thor lightning god, melee or gun (requires AoM expansion)
i prefer melee types, i don't enjoy piloting casters very much, but if i have to toss in a caster contender it would probably be Albrechts Aether Ray Spellbinder/Mage Hunter/Warlock (spellbinder+mage hunter requries AoM, warlock is vanilla), or a Trozan Skyshard Druid
I suggest looking here because builds in that section are much more likely to have a more complete summary on ways to level/items to get/factions/etc in a way that is not overwhelming.
IMO best to look at in context of experiencing the game are Beginner build topics by Stupid_Dragon and then Nery, with the rest a little bit further behind.

If nothing else they give a nice char statistic snapshot of certain key levels to help you to compare against with your character such as resistances and also Offensive Ability/Defensive Ability, etc.
Context is important though as such aspects are not equal between different builds and how they play.
It's fun to me, though it might be little to do. I've used no guide but guided myself through it mostly and had some support from others who sat themselve at devotions and got critique from me until I was ok with the path.
I leave a Grimtools link.
I've started out with Iskandrias elemental Exchange for levelling going for onhit until the energy regen and the skillcosts where appropriate to be useable. I first switched the character on lv 91 to Spellbinder before it went through the game as Arcanist.

That's respectful towards other fellow noobs.
However, I really just wanted to know what you enjoy.
I think I'll try a Vindicator next since I like 2h builds. Thanks, dude. :D
For Ranged: Dual pistol wielding Purifier. Specialized in elemental damage. Get relics like Gunslinger or Marauder talisman, and gear like the Marauder set; this has 4 pieces of gear, 2 pistols, gloves and a belt. Note that for higher level characters, there is also an Empowered Marauder set. Recommended Devotions would be Soleil's Witchblade and Rhowan's Crown.
Either way, Thunderous Strikes is what you're after, whether you pair that with Storm Totem or Stormbox of Elgoloth is up to your, either way you get a ton of zappy stuff to go around with your face-smashing
(good thing about Thunderous Strike is it works both with a 2h melee or ranged weapon, so you can get to try a slightly different approach when you wish to switch it up)
I have a Vindicator character, but have not taken Thunderous Strike. Is the removal of the 3 second CD worth the loss of 60% weapon damage, considering that I can use the 3 second cool down to use a second attack mode? (Storm Box, Devouring Swarm or whatever).
Considering the % boosts/flat damage the skill chain gives for sure.
The total dmg modifiler -28% has a greater effect IMO, but still worth it once you have the right number of skill points/RR.
It works out better than Forcewave spamming, IMO anyway although they play differently.
^i have not done any thorough testing with BiS gear between the 2, so i can't tell what's "better" for real, but what i played on Ultimate Campaign and SR 50, hardcapped Thunderous just felt better than Savagery+wps & Primal on cd. Other factors might also play in, as whether or not using Storm Totem or hard capped Stormbox for da shred etc etc, but overall, my "Thunderous Stormbox" vindicator felt the best, for me
Close second is TSS druid. Walking orbital bombardment. Probably the most powerful of my chars too, unless I missed some nerfs.
Hey, what's your build and how far it takes you in the endgame stuff? I've been trying to move away from fire purifier lately, but with little success.
Currently my Purifier is level 85 and working Malmouth. He's got the full Empowered Marauder set along with the Marauder talisman relic, so he's specializing in fire and cold damage (the set has 2 pistols, one deals fire, the other cold). He has a second set of pistols fitted out for lightning, just for variety.
There's nothing wrong with fire damage, provided that you have decent RR. For Devotions he has Soleil's Witchblade, Rhowan's Crown, most of Hydra and uses the Aura of Censure skill, all of which enhance elemental damage and do some RR to the target.
BTW, he also has the Conflagration relic; when going up against Bosses he uses Conflagration attack, which deals huge amounts of fire damage ... 30,000 DPS ... but at a steep energy cost.
I am shuttling him back and forth between Veteran (in the Malmouth area) and Elite (He's only halfway through act 3 there) for variety.
