Before we had GrimTools this was our build calculator..
https://web.archive.org/web/20200412091732/https://grimcalc.com/
..it did the job but GrimTools came along and took over that throne.
Do I need GrimTools? Nope. I know the masteries inside and out by now. But it's handy to have for innumerable reasons.
Second, play build without planning it in external calculator is like walking in the forest without map, it could be exciting, but also you easily may astray.
That's how I feel as well, but if so, why is it more hard for some than others if they are able to use the calculator to get what they want?
I did and so did many others when the game first came out in early access because there was no grimtools, grimcalc or gracefuldusk. We just tried stuff out for ourselves. Some of us probably had a fair idea of what might work and what might not because we were familiar with Titan Quest, but there were others who probably didn't know it at all. We managed and we enjoyed doing so.
Burned the meatball with Empyrion's holy fire >:D
It's great to discuss builds, or if someone asks, what's the issue with this character, depending on how accurate the stats of the items are, else it's a tool to look at some lootpossibilities, besides that, it's clear to me , that the game is enjoyable without.
Though is it fair and wisheable to create and have an itemdatabase of the items and have that accessable over the web ?
Surely it is!
::Raises hand::
It's many things, but it's mainly a build planner. You can create a character from scratch and see if it ends up being endgame viable, or perhaps you had an idea for something and just wanna see how it would pan out. I never use the build planner myself, but will occasionally reference the other parts of it. Easier and more helpful than a wiki.
The notion of "cool" or not sounds like something unique to each person that they have to experience themselves to determine... https://www.grimtools.com/
GrimTools, on the whole, has tons of features that it can be generally agreed upon as being very handy. The build calculator itself (which is only one part of the suite of tools known as GrimTools) is immeasurably useful in regards to being able to directly share your builds with people - both in build guides and for people asking for help with their builds.
