Game keeps freezing

When will you adress the gamebreaking freeze issue that some players experience? I know this has been lifted to your attention several times but have not seen an improvment. Its to bad cause I really do enjoy the game, its a work of art, but it is hard to enjoy when after a 2 hour crucible your game freezes and forces a reboot of your PC...

More likely to be something outside of the game like a badly operating fan causing overheat, but have you tried what's mentioned in this thread?

No overheating. Ryzen 1700x / Vega 64LQ, both liquid cooled. Game crashes frequently - black screen, freezing, etc ...

I'm afraid that is not the case, It doesn't freeze my entire PC. I can still hear the game sound and with dual screens I can actually manage to tab out to the "Task manager" on the other screen to turn off the process. It only occurs with Grim dawn and have been doing so ever since the Malmoth release. Sometimes it doesn't occur for a couple of weeks, sometimes a few times in a very short period of time(days). Thanks for your links @medeafleecestealer, I hope the devs sees this and actually look into their game engine...

Make sure you're running the correct executable. Since the latest update, my game will lock up at area transitions every 3-4 hours if I'm running the 32-bit executable on win10 64-bit. I was using the desktop shortcut, which didn't point at the correct executable.

Hi, I had a similar problem. Game would lock up when entering certain areas but I can hear the sound in the background. I tried all the tips e.g. changing the save location to read/write, running in compatibility mode but didn't work.

The fix I found was just running the game in multiplayer mode (LAN if you are playing alone) and then no more locking!

It is extremely rare with me but what I do is just tab out, select shutdown, then when it asks for confirmation I cancel. Not really sure why that clears it but it is replicable. It is a rare occurrence though.

The only thing that works for me is joining others' games. Nothing works. I cannot play GD alone anymore. I just very recently got this issue after almost 4000 hours in the game... wtf
