Devotion Abilities

So I'm just about to start Ultimate as I hit level 70 but I also just unlocked Elemental Storm and I'm not sure the best way to link my abilities.
I have Elemental Storm, Tsunami, and Reckless Tempest for devotion abilities.
I use Primal Strike, Wind Devil, and Storm Totem as my main skills.

Um, Tempest I like on either Primal Strike or Wind Devil, Elemental Storm I'd put on the Totem, Tsunami I wouldn't have to start with. What T3 constelation/s are you aiming for and what sort of build is it? Melee, ranged, caster?

I've been winging it as it's my first char and I did no research before hand. Its a physique two handed shaman/soldier. Obviously I focus on lit dmg

Um, my set up is usually

Throne (or Owl if I don't want resistances)
Lizard
Tempest - Devil
Scholar's
Crown - Totem
Ghoul - Mogdrogen's
Behemoth - Stormcaller's
Kraken
Eel
Ultos - Primal Strike
Remove Blue Crossroads
Then put the remaining 4 points into either Quill or Owl/Throne

I have a Vindicator (Shaman + Inquisitor) which basically does the same thing, except it's ranged. From my experience with that build, I agree with Faust and have ES bound to WD (that's what I've done and it works great). I'd also try to get Hand of Ultos if you have high enough Offensive Ability and bind that to Thunderous Strike (though you did say Primal so that wouldn't work well with the cooldown). I would also drop Tsunami and get Arcane Bomb. I know that seems counter-intuitive as the Aether damage is redundant, however, the -35% Lightning resistance is very nice to have. Binding AB to Totem should work fine. You will need to re-jigger your Devotion path though (I don't have Reckless Tempest, just the first two nodes of Tempest for the flat Lightning damage).

Just hit 'D' shortcut to get to the Devotions once it's loaded. Obviously, I'm ranged so you will probably need more defensive stuff if you are melee.

You can't bind a proc to Thunderous Strike. It does however reduce the cooldown for Primal by 100% so it's continuous.

Sorry that's demonstrably false. I have Hand of Ultos bound to TS and to make sure I wasn't going crazy (haven't played in 7-8 months) I removed all points from Torrent and gathered a group of mobs. First TS crit caused the 4 or 5 mobs to get hit by Hand of Ultos and they were too far apart for it be the Lightning Bolt procs from gloves and rifle.

Edit: Maybe you are conflating Devotion procs with WPS? Because TS can't proc WPS.

Thunderous Strike isn't one of them. Your own grimtools link shows you have Ultos bound to Primal Strike, not Thunderous Strike.

Oh I see what you mean, yeah sorry (just woke up and my meds are making me slow). I know you can't attach the Devotion to TS directly but I was refering to the fact that when you have TS it makes it PS an effective HoU delivery system with 3.6k+ OA. I read your previous comment as TS won't proc HoU. Sorry.

No problem. TS doesn't directly, but it does give PS 100% chance of cooldown so PS procs continuously.
