Inquisitor Seal
This skill has both restorative and offensive powers. The offense isn't that impressive, but does get a boost vs certain enemy types. My question is whether this refers only to the retribution itself, or whether the caster also benefits.

Let's say my guy is standing in the Seal's AOE, getting some health regen, and some Aetherial thug is foolish enough to wander into range. Does he get the benefit of the +33% damage boost? I tried a Google search, and a couple of references seemed to suggest that this was the case, but none came right out and said so.

Second question: do the benefits stack? If I cast two of them so that the two AOE overlap, do I get double health regeneration? Do enemies take double damage?

only applies to the seal itself. I dont think they stack, aside from damage overlay on enemies, think it just refreshes the buff on you since that's how other abilities work, but someone feel free to correct me in the comments

How disappointing. Oh well, better than nothing.

Eh.. Seal is already borderline OP on some builds ;)

The damage absorption part can be so, but that depends on other damage reduction gear/procs being in effect. I was really hoping to get a damage buff against susceptible foes, however.

I was under the impression the buffs on node 2 applied to the player. My listed dps goes up in the appropriate categories when I stand in a seal with second node active.

You are correct. However the OP seemed to be referring to the damage bonus vs certain enemy types that the seal's ticking fire damage ability possesses.

Strewing multiple seals around the battlefield so that I can kite around and still be in their effect helps survival, and overlapping seals on top of critters seems to have additive effects. Both of these are good things. I do still need help from gear and other skills, though, to maximize chances of victory. I wouldn't call seal OP at this point.

Inquisitor's Seal only really shows the power it has in certain situations, like these that stick in my mind:
  • Relatively high level or 12/12 Seal at <= ~45th level, assuming decent resistances - but armor can be neglected.
  • ~12/12 Inquisitor's Seal on a high-armor (or phys res), high armor absorb endgame character with the usual 80%+ resists.
  • Very high Inquisitor's Seal - 22/12 or near that - on any endgame character with capped resists, whatever the armor/armor absorb/phys res.
