Looking Good
There is a merchant named Fascia in Fort Ikon who runs a shop called "Commonly Good Looks". His items all seem to be non-magical. For white gear, they do seem to be above average in abilities granted, but for the life of me I can't see why he is located there.

By the tme any of my guys hit Fort Ikon, they are anywhere from level 40 to 50. By then, they all have blue/green gear at the very least. Why on earh would I want to by any of Fascia's stuff?

At first I figured that it might be designed for buying starting gear for new characters; older bro buys newborn sibling some nice starting gear and sicks it in the common stash. But then I noticed that the gear he sells all has level requirements ranging from level 15 to level 30(!)

Seriously, by level 30 you should have a decent collection of yellow and green items. Hence, I really don't see the point of this particular merchant. Am I missing something obvious here?

:steamfacepalm:

yep, two things. First, vendors arnt spose to have good stuff. Second the name of the shop is a good clue. Along with the illusionist you now have way to get new looks easy.

/shrug just my guess .

Sorry, your theory is interesting but incorrect. These weapons are real, not illusions. They don't overlay any of your real weapons, they actually replace them. And they are much, much weaker. No matter how good they look, they perform terribly.

Substituting one of his non-magical maces for my epic one, my DPS dropped by about 2000. Likewise for using one of his pistols.

V1.0.3.0 Changelog
Common versions of Monster Infrequents have been removed from the loot pool. As some of these items had unique appearances, a special vendor has been added to Fort Ikon that sells various common Monster Infrequents without affixes for collectors and the Illusionist.

Sorry, but Myagony is right.
They are there so you can unlock those illusion very easy. Its even in the patchnotes.

Yikes, tfw you think you're right but end up being completely wrong.

Well, that may have been the intention, but that's not how it's working, for me at any rate. I don't need anything that the Good Looks guy sells in order to disguise my gear with the Illusionist's services. I can change the appearance of Fasca's gear via the illusionist, but it still is crappy gear.

Collecting items that look like formerly available monster infrequents? I don't see the point.

Just for looks. You equip your good wep and change its look to one those from vendor. Need to buy or find the look before you can use it as tmog.

"Sorry, your theory is interesting but totally wrong" -> "Sorry, your theory is interesting but incorrect"
Sorry sight.

Myagony is correct. The items themselves aren't the actual Illusions. They are simply a means to acquire gear that ADDS to your Illusionists "inventory" so to speak. In order to bolster said "inventory" said items need to have been in your character's "real" inventory at least once at some point. This is simply a means to further facilitate this process, to fill in gaps in your "collection".

This is the "point" and once you come to that understanding the point is hard to miss. If it doesn't tickle your fancy then so be it, move on from it as it doesn't concern you.

i think you are mistaking what they are saying/and the patch notes
the idea is: some people like to "dress up",
but they had to acquire those items via drop (so "luck" to get a look they liked), and even then the items were bared by lvl (meaning not all alts would have access to the transmog to gain said look)
and for whatever reason Crate decided to remove these items "normal" version from the loot pool (so now unobtainable that way), -but because they understand some people, "collectors", like to have multi/all transmog choices, they put in the vendor to sell them that item, so it could be added to their transmog/illusion "roster"
(you need to have had an item in inventory before you can transmog it to said illusion, thus you need to buy it once(or from drop) in order to get the look for your toons, -and now people can not only get these looks easy, they can get them even tho removed from loot pool)

so yea, it's only for looks, meant for you to buy, -to add to illusion then trash after, since you couldn't get those looks other ways now

Even in the event of apocalypse, sense of fashion must never be abandoned!

- Your rezurection of this tread was not required.
- He tried to answer and was wrong and he was corrected by someone else. This is how public forums work. Nothing bad about it.
- This renders your post much more out of place than his, as you posted just to insult him while he was clearly trying to help.
- Ironically, this post is not much better than yours... but that is just another normal tendency of public forums... :-S

I'd like to point out one more reason for visiting Fascia... at the time of writing this (version 1.0.4.1) she pays just over 20% more than any other vendor to take the random junk found out in the Grim Dawn landscape off your hands. It's nice to find at least one vendor willing to pay top dollar for the hard-fought crap I've scoured from the lands outside the Fort!
