Can you not customise your characters physical appearences?
Hi! I am new and I made a character but it just gave him an appearence? can I not make him how I like?

the game doesn't provide you with changing face, hair style or body, but you can change armor appearence using illusion on game.

you also can try using mod.

know any mod that let's me do it? it is a big deal for me not customizing facial / body appearences xD

It's why I haven't played diablo even though I love everything else about it , for me I like making my character my own by changing his face and such instead of just changing armour, it's why I don't play a lot of RPG's where you are using pre-defined characters

Not possible, however there is a mod that allows you to choose from a few hairstyles.

Ultimately it doesnt really matter as most helmets completely cover the face.
MedeaFleecestealer 10 mai. 2020 às 12:04
Nope, there's a mod for hairstyles as Schnitzel said and also one that allows you to add wings if you want, but nothing else. Since you're covered with armour from the get go there's not really any need for such things. This is the nearest you're going to get in this game.

No, so long as you've picked up an item it'll be available at the Illusionist whether you keep it or not.

"Using proprietary Illusionist mind-meld technology, any item you discover will automatically have its appearance stored."

I think I will refund it it then, and that matters to me , even if I can't see it I will still know my character looks just like and a lot of the time I will leave helmets off if there is no hide helmet button (which apparently there isn't) so I'd just have no helm on and see it

the illusionary lets you customise any armor you're wearing to look exactly however you wish it to, so you can choose to look like a mage with a pointy hat and robes even if you are a melee burly dude, vice versa. Since you will be wearing armor 100% of the time, I would suggest you use that if you want to come up with a cool outfit.

to me though customizing armour isn't a big deal, most games let you do that I want to customize the face but apparently not many ARPG's let you do that sadly :(

Yeah hack and slash games rarely have character customization. Probably wont be your Genre if that's your thing. It's generally seen as a waste of dev resources as it's 99% of the time not visible.

but loads of mmos have the option even though you are usually clad in armour so what's the difference ?

MMO's often have closer camera angles and arent isometric where you can see your character in closer detail.

Didn´t work for me, that´s why I go safe. Not sure if it´s Crate or the Steamsaves, but I tested it in the past.. and some items were gone again! But since I had trouble with Steamsaves, while none of you here could help me and even questioned my issue+solution, maybe it´s the same with the Illusionist..
In the end, it´s not the Players (Customer) job to verify every few months after Patches, If things finally work or not anymore. That´s Crate´s job, and in some technical aspects the game still falls short! Good though it can be helped, so it´s more of a quality fix now ;)
No one asked?

The customising here is done via armor and illusions you attach to it. You never see your face really beyond the early levels for most builds. And you are often so zoomed out even if you didn't wear a helmet you cant really see the detail like faces anyway.

No judgement, that sort of thing can be important to people. Just the same way I can't enjoy games like the Witcher series cause it has a preset protagonist. So I do understand, but as others have eluded to it is pretty much how this genre works, I cant think of a single good ARPG where you have any worthwhile customisation of appearance like you'd find in Asian MMOs.

you hardly even see your characters face, if ever. Why would you want to change it?

MMO end-game is fashion. ARPG end-game is build complexity.

I am not sure about that one , like look at wow and FFXIV , you customize characters fully at the start (hair, face, details ect ect) then level them up then at end game you need a good build to do raids and pvp?

Because for me even though I might never see it I know the face/body is the exact same as every other male player and that bugs me , I like having a character that is unique and just mine and most games I play have character customization for me to do just that
