Started my defiler last night. Cleared warden krieg. will press on tonight.
As i said, cleared Krieg. So far so good.
A Defiler sounds like a bad combo as well
Yep pretty much this, also id put a word in for Arcanist + Shaman
Well therein lies the issue with the OPs question, I mean even something as obviously awkward as Necromancer + Demo can be made reasonably effective by merely focusing on one class mainly just using the other for support skills, which is how most Battlemages work, they tend to be either heavily Soldier based with arcanist support skills or vice versa, so they tend to be fairly strong.
inb4 Matthew and his 20k HP 3k DA Druid
Isn't Druid still the top dog when it comes to TSS spam? I play mine with Temporal Arcblade and 3 pieces of the Iskandra's set (I'm missing the regular amulet) and it's fun to see the elemental/aether madness on the screen. I think the issue lies with Aether damage being paired with either lightning or fire, so you basically have to spread your damage types and Arcanist doesn't have a good res debuff which is essential on Utlimate. And the Blind Sage constellation is super expensive.
Uroboruuk DE (Death Sentence = Aether RR) or 100% elemental -> vitality conversion plus 30% Vitality RR with 2x Decree of Malmouth. The End.
I played Elementalist a lot back when I started. It was really clunky even then but tolerable because you didn't have enough skill points to pump all the support skills, meaning you spent more time actually damaging stuff (without losing out compared to other builds) plus other strong builds tended to be more awkward back then if you ask me. Now... why would I want Elementalist when I could play Vindicator or Purifier (or even Conjurer) with less headache, more speed, and better defenses? Demo needs some help.

Well like I said its one of the strengths of GD tbh that any class combo even really awkward ones that have not much synergy can be made good. I have a bleed caster warder that can take out Moose in about 20 seconds, and a 2h ranged aether rifleman thats pretty nifty but it doesnt make those builds good particularly :)
And like i said if you just use arcanist as a support class it kinda fits with anything and shaman is strong on its own, it doesnt really need much help. But I wager anything a shaman / arcanist can do another class combo could do better. I mean its not the worst but its just meh, overall though id agree with the general theme being demolitionist and necro being very weak and actually demo and various other classes. Demo feels the most outdated of all the classes these days since Inquisitors became a thing.
I have longer time battlemage build around krieg set in my head. Already made it in tools (only:p:-)

imho it looks damn good and viable to play! Gonna try it one day..
