New to Game -Where are my iron bits I collect

I see I need iron bits to build a bridge to new area. I click on corpse on ground and very qucikly 17 iron bits flashes in lavender. The only thing to pick up is boots or some equipment drop. I check my inventory to see if the iron bits were auto added, but they are not there.

I have the option checked that would allow me to pick up all items and I am still low level, 8 or 9. So shouldn't I be able to gather iron bits. This makes no sense to me but its probably obvious, just missing something.

Look closely at your inventory UI. They are there and being tallied, right in front of ya. Iron bits are an auto-pickup if you are in range.

I double checked and I do not see any iron bits anywhere.

Not sure if that screen show will display as it starts with https.

So where do they go exactly? There doesn't seem to be any secret area in inventory. I have 5 pieces of scrap but I should have about 30 iron bits by now. The vendor doesn't sell them, so if I can't get iron bits I can't get out of the start area.

Plus I get the feeling that you maybe don't quite understand what "iron bits" are in the world of Grim Dawn. Iron bits are money. According to your screenshot you currently have almost two thousand of them. If memory serves you need 3,000 iron bits and 6 scrap to repair the bridge.

You are also only level 8 and technically you should not be concerned with that bridge at the moment. You can fix it once you have the requirements but the enemies beyond are over your level. Your main quests lead you elsewhere for now and personally I'd recommend you follow them for the time being and forget about the bridge for a bit. The game will eventually bring you back to it.

lol, yea I thought that number you circled was the standard gold pieces. Just been playing TQ for 600 hours and got use to gold being what you use to buy stuff. I was looking for iron bits to show up the same as scrap metal did :P That clears that up :) Have no idea how I got that many, must start with x amount.

Ok, I'll ignore bridge for awhile. Thanks for the info and tip.
