Silly Question about Salazar's Sovereign Blade...

Never had it drop before, ever.
Yes, I know the blade is a farly rare drop.
How rare is this particular blade, and... is it worth making a new character, and building around this thing?
Or should I dismantle it?
Or hang it on the wall to look at in my woman cave?
If I stare into it, will it stare back at me?

Just a bit funny, I am getting all sorts of low level blues I have never seen before, with AoM or without. And more MI's than I have ever seen before, also new ones to me. Kinda chuckling at threads with people complaining about drops. I may not be getting great stuff (yet), but I am having a blast finding a ton of new-to-me-loot. :)

Actually I have never viewed that sword as "rare". I've never had to run him more than a handful of times to get one. What might be harder to do is get an affix to roll on it that you want.

Gotcha. This dropped from a bounty run, not the "usual" Die-by-Salazar enocunter when heading to Burrwich. I think this is the first time I have ever done the DC Salazar bounty, to be honest.

So, basically it is crap, just dismantle it and see what mats I get from it.

It's useful if you have the level 92 or so version, with decent prefix/suffix combo. Level 92 version has lowest cooldown of like 30-35 sec on the summon. Get it with some pet bonuses, like dominator/subjucator prefix and it's useable.

Okay. I usually run melee toons in aRPGs. Never been comfortable with ranged, mages, pet builds. I like to facetank. Battlemage has been an interesting new thing for me this run. Time to start playing with new toys, lol! I'll hang this one up to look at for a little while.

i think it depends on the random affixess whether it's worth keeping it around. i mean, the base item is pretty decent for a summoner occultist, but it's of course only really worth using if the 2 random affixes are also suitable - pretty much like every other monster infrequent item in the game.

also note that there is a relic (Sacrifice https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/♥♥♥♥ ) that requires a salazar blade as an igredient for crafting it. and that relic is itself an ingredient for 2 other high tier relics (nemesis, menhirs bastion).
i recently wanted to craft yet another nemesis relic for a new toon that reached higher levels and actually had to farm salazar for a bit until he dropped his dagger which was needed in the crafting process.

Thank you! Nope, I haven't crafted any Transcendent Relics yet, ever. I tend to play a character to about Lvl 35, then get antsy to try something new, and leave old characters collecting dust. Actually looking to get past my personal record of Lvl 49 with this one, and had no idea the blade might be an ingredient for crafting. I will def not be blowing it up, it will get used for that relic.
