unless you happen to get lucky, or already have some retaliation gear, i wouldn't recommend leveling "as retaliation"
don't get me wrong, you can do super in stuff like vilescorn and perdition, if you have those
but if you don't have decent retaliation gear "while leveling" it's gonna be slog.. And you're better off lvling in something a bit more offensive, using stuff like aegis of menhir, wps, and righteous fervor...
but once you do get going, it's probably the easies character besides pet lord... i kid you not, literal afk killing...
i've done both a phys retal and an acid retal warlord, and alot of the times it's just holding down m1 and then using ascension...hell most of the time i didn't even need to use overguard or warcry

no, reflect does, but it doesn't need to tho.
retaliation has been reworked so now you have attacks that add part of your retaliation to your skills/attack dmg, thats why you can still kill everything with 0 hassle... no longer 10minute kills for Alexander etc

I started my first proper sword and board and I am extremely happy with it. Only uses 3 main skills. Judgement is like a smart bomb, wipes everything out near me.

Had a few good swords then came across the 'mace like a shield' and it is currently the most powerful weapon I have access to. So no longer a sword and board build. At least not for now...,..

Reflect has been removed from the game when they introduced "% of retaliation" as a skill modifier.

lol i never even noticed/paid attention to that, especially since there were still "reflect" in the game via enemies and reflect reduction dmg for us i just kept lumping the stat together as existing "somewhere" i guess
