Housing / hideout system
Hello! :)

I would like to share with you my idea for a new separate DLC / thing in new 3rd Expansion.

I would like the opportunity to have my own home / hideout in Grim Dawn. Alternatively, decorate Devil’s Crossing.

I believe that such a housing system would open new possibilities for Crate. It would be great to:

Collect trophies from defeated bosses
Collect recipes for new decorations (chairs, tables, mannequins, etc.)
Decorate the room with walls, floors, etc.

It is also a very good opportunity for more DLC in the loyalist style which would include tons of cosmetic elements.

What do you think about my idea?

Too bad there are no more planned expansions for the game

It's funny how fast people are jumping to this conclusion. Unless you have those exact words quoted from Crate, don't speak for them.

They actually stated that they were not sure if they would continue releasing full expansions for the game. It all depends on how well the game sells copies. Seeing how Grim Dawn was one of the best selling games on steam for the year, I doubt they just cut it.

They even stated that if they did stop releasing full expansions they would not stop supporting the game. They went on saying that they would still do balancing changes, and possible new content.

Yeah exactly they would do balances and small content updates. All I said is that there are no planned expansions ie AoM or FG like content

We jump to this conclusion because all indications as of now are pointing toward it. Grim Dawn is in its twilight phase - at least some portion of Crate has been at work on this game a very long time now (nearly this entire decade).

Personally, I'm pretty convinced they aren't doing anymore expansions until I see Zantai say otherwise. He's already strongly hinted that FG was more than likely to be it. When he said "depends on how well the game sells copies" he made it clear that it would have to do amazingly well for them to even consider changing their mindset on anymore expansions.

We'll see but at this point I am not betting on anymore expansions as Zantai has also stated that continuing the story would be better suited to be done in a new game rather than bogging down the current game any further than it already is.

Small-ish free content updates and patches, sure, I can see them doing such as long as the game is still selling decently and you are correct that he has stated as much already. Possibly more Loyalist Packs, sure, people seem to like them and many have asked for more so I wouldn't be surprised if they do another one.

True, however Zantai has been quoted several times saying it's unlikely there'll be any more. He's also said he won't say never so there is a slim possibility there might be. BUT we now have a Definite Edition of the game which suggests another expansion is unlikely since they need to wrap up the game to get the Xbox port finished. They've been working on that for about 3 years now so really need to wrap it up and since they want to make that a bundle I can't see them doing another expansion since that would be yet another delay. Some smaller additional content yes; we know there are still a few more updates to come. More likely however is a sequel in a few years' time when the team have had a break from ARPGs and can dive back in with renewed enthusiasm.

If they were to implement a Hideout system, they would be copying something that's already in place in PoE. We've always advocated for others to stop drawing comparisons between games. I don't think that'd be a good move.

Also, I fail to see how that would have an impact on GD. The point of Hideouts in PoE is to have all your crafting/NPCs/portals at hand. Since interactions are a lot less convoluted in GD, it wouldn't serve much of a purpose.

THIS

Honestly if they ever did another Expac I'd want it to be something fairly unique not some cheap knock off from another game (no offense to POE intended)

The devs aren't intelligent enough to give us what we want.

What players want and what is good for the game are not always the same thing.

PoE Hideout allows players to avoid seeing other players, and with amount of flashy and noisy cosmetics some of them like to use its a freakin' blessing that we don't have to look at those. GD does not have this problem.
Necroing a 6 year old thread. Well done! :steammocking:

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
