Considering you're already having to manage a skill tree more complex than in most RPGs - not to mention two of them at once on separate screens, I'm surprised it wasn't added at some point.
I doubt it would take a programmer even a day to add that feature into the game.
That would also work
But yeah if they could at least pop the (Class) after the ability on items that would work too, such as, instead of...
+2 to Shadow Strike
...it would say...
+2 to Shadow Strike (Nightblade, Lvl.10)
Remembering the names of skills and there corresponding icons is impossible for me personally
You do realise that if you have Nightblade as one of your masteries that would be in a different colour to anything else listed to show it's one of your possible skills?
So for example with Dawnguard Gauntlets giving +3 to Entangling Vines and +2 to Retribution, if you have Shaman as a mastery +3 to Entangling Vines will be a different colour ingame to the +2 to Retribution. If you have Oathkeeper as well making the Archon class then they'd both be the same colour as they are both skills you could use.

Not really sure what you mean by the devotion points, but they can be bought back at the Spirit Guide or you can get a potion to reset them for free as part of some quest rewards in Ashes of Malmouth expansion.
Yes, for some 3,000+ hours. I've been playing the game since it hit day one of early access for Kickstarter backers. How about you?
Well that's for you. A lot of people don't have that problem.
Not sure what you need to search, but if you need to search for skills use Grimtools maybe?
A search would be much more useful for quickly identifying bonus synergies across a mastery or masteries.
Much more than you know. And I'd say it's rather impressively cool that at 67 years old (happy bday again, Medea) that she's logged 3K+ hours of GD, and likely more than that in TQ. Plus, as she notes, she's been involved with the game since its first glimmerings nearly (almost a decade ago now - May of 2010 was your first post on the official forums, Medea) and plays it enough that she also helps test new patches/updates for the game alongside helping moderate the official GD forums as well as the fan-made TQ forum..

Might just be me but I'd wager she has at least some inkling of what's going on.
I'm with the OP in this one. It'd be handy to have a search function for skills, because hovering over every skill to find the one you want is sometimes tedious. It'd also be awesome to be able to see a highlighted bonus granted from gear to a specific skill in the skill tree. Say a piece of gear gives +1 to ABB, let us see "+1 for ABB granted from Pants Full of PooPoo" in the tooltip while wearing it.
Note: I always provide links where necessary because I make it a point to be able to backup anything I speak of.
We do very much play the game still and even if we didn't what of it? We know the game quite well irregardless of whether we still play or not. At most we might take breaks, as anyone after thousands of hours would.
Do note, again, my response on the topic:
In general I am never against implementation of ideas that have at least a grounded practical application to them and can bring at least some QoL to the game.
I'm not going to lose any sleep, however, whether they show up or not.
If not a search in the skill tree windows, maybe add a QoL function that tells us what rank the skill will be increased to if we do equip an item with a skill bonus.
"+2 Amarasta's Quick Cut (13/8)" or something.
Because no, I cannot memorize all these skills within 2 hours of playing a new class.
