Grim Dawn
Effigies, Tomes, and Bones: Are They Worthwhile?
I've collected an assorment of these and am thinking about just selling them all. It seems the off-hand is better holding another weapon or shield (at least on my lower leveled characters).

I have many yellow and green ones and a few epic blues. Should I sell them? I haven't heard of anyone recommending using them on lower levels. Only a couple stack with whatever damages/skills/classes I've invested in thus far.

I'm not really sure about these. They take up a ton of valuable stash space I could use for armor and weapons. They are priced quite well which makes me think that I'm missing something and they may have some value I'm not seeing.

I dunno. Any recommendations?

If your still new to the game and dont have any high level characters honestly unless your a caster or petmancer offhands are just shop fodder. Now if your playing a caster around about act 3 or 4 onwards they become worthwhile as energy regen and skill cooldown are both good stats for any caster, but if your not a caster sell them as you get more into the game youll realise little of what you find on normal and not much of what you find on elite has much permanence, its just a means to an end (getting to ult) so if you need stash space or money sell em.

Caveat: Very occasionally youll find good leveling items things that have lots of health really good resists or even exp bonuses, those are sometimes worth keeping around to level other toons with

Oh another thing offhands of the mythic variety tend to be quite build defining they arent the sort of item anyone can use optimally, there are a few exceptions but generally only certain types of builds will use certain offhands, in contrast to say pistols, any pistol user can use like 90% of the pistols to varying degrees of success and get away with it, but offhands not so much

Depends on the build. Groble Sky Effigy is pretty much BiS for Storm Totem builds, Death Effigy for Vitality Phantasmal Blades, Terrnox Aether Tomes for Devastation builds, Bonespikes for Ravenus Earth builds, and so on. Of course, it all depends on their affixes. If you ever come across a Thunderstruck Groble Sky Effigy of Torrents you will have one of the best items ever for a Storm Totem Druid or Elementalist, though other affixes combinatirons might fix other things on the build like, an "of Readiness" suffix would help if you lack OA and DA or an "of Oracle" if you feel need more energy sustain (although I can hardly see a Druid or Elementalist having sustain problems)

Thx EddieAlucard! That gives me a better idea.. if they have sucky affixes then I'll dump 'em.

After looking at all the available prefixes and suffixes here[www.grimtools.com] my head was spinning thinking of all the maddening possibilities.

lol -I have no idea without researching each individual item whether they're worth keeping based upon affixes. And Grim Tools DB doesn't even show any yellow bones -which I have a pile of.

I think I'll just see how many iron bits they're worth and dump yellow cheapo ones. When they add +1 or +2 to skills of classes I use I may keep them. Space is always an issue in the stash. I just keep hoarding more and more stuff. Maybe I should look into one of the external stash mgrs. or a stash mod. until I come up with a gameplan on what I keep.

You make your life much easier, if you set loot filter to green from burwitch vet onward Now often ppl jump in and tell you about that *amazing* yellow ring. And yes, those items exist, what they dont tell you, that they spend *hours* of sorting through junk to find that one pearl. Time they could have used to farm bosses, run SoT or whatever to find epics and purples.

Bingo! Yup -I figured all those yellow (and most all green) bones, tomes, and effigies were junk but I wanted to make sure I didn't toss something useful to some class.

And thanks for the link Chiksika! Useful info!
