254 hrs in, bugs to report
> Most of the Audio dropping out with ASUS Xonar DX soundcard over time
Not all sounds are lost. Scripted background music and sounds still play. Good example is absolute silence in C'thonic rifts [as opposed to whoosh sound], with very occasional sound from firing my 2h Gun. Seems to occur fairly quickly in every session.

-I've set advanced audio properties through Windows to lowest > 16 bit, 44.1 Hz through 24 bit, 48 Hz to no avail. [trying 24 bit, 96 Hz. I'll update]

> Hard Freeze returning to main menu after repeated restarts
When attempting to roll a high quality faction item or seeking a specific resistance from a vendor, users will load in and then quit to main menu repeatedly in a single session. Occasionally the game will hard freeze immediately upon returning main menu, just as the character appearance is being loaded. This may have to do with Audio still being played by vendor during reset.

> Seemingly random hard crash exiting Emberjaw cave > Northside Uldagraxx Spider Cave > Exterior during Ancient Heart farming.
-Previously ported back to sell at a main base from Emberjaw, then crash immediately as nearby enemies rush, possibly during audio change.

> Slight lag in Fort Ikon during hail weather

~Seems there could be an issue with using this AudioCard or a crashy crashy with audio in general.

I've sent in all hard crash reports, please contact me if there is anything I can add to whittle this down and fix. Going forward I'll tag my crashes as #Audio or #Xonar

googled this further, seems to be an issue with soundcards regardless of Windows advanced
audio settings.

So question? In the meantime, can I type something into Launch Properties in order to force Grim Dawn to use on-board audio as opposed to soundcard?

You could disable your sound card in windows, I don't think there is a launch option that would do that.

I'll give that a try & report back. Seeing as there is another expansion in the pipeline,.. it would be amazing to use any soundcard in a definitive edition

So quitting to main menu is waay faster w/o soundcard. I went into Computer Management > disabled soundcard per discussion. It's almost as if the game is 1 sec faster loading the portrait on start too, or rather instant. The hard freeze would occur returning to main menu during that intial crouched phase as it loads character

this isn't a solution, rather a workaround

answer: right-click Computer & select Manage
now in Computer Management > Device Manager
look in Sound, video and game controllers
right-click on "sound card name" > Disable
High Definition Audio Device takes oves

follow same steps to reenable:
Reinstate Audio Card for ASIO capable music programs

not happy playing off generic built-in speakers. I got a powered 20W amp that runs from the audio card, back to standard bookshelf speakers. usually amazing

please fix this

I would first advise that you either update your sound drivers or, if updated already, do a complete sound driver reinstall and see if that sorts out the issue first.
