did you try the repair function ? its in the grimdawn folder, not sure where though
That may solve the start up issue, since Grim Dawn scan your router at the start and if the router doesn't respond properly Grim Dawn gets caught in a loop. You wont be able to play multiplayer though, so that is a downside. Can be fixed via opening up the specific ports Grim Dawn uses, use teh google to find out which ones.
[edit] Oh and sorry for missing this, would have replied last night, but was zonked out due forgeting to take my anti-depressants that morning. Turns out I turn into even more of a mess when I do that lawl.
grimdawn.com is down to, so I can't go hunting there for possible answers.
Anyhow, when you start Grim Dawn via steam does grimdawn.exe show up in task manager as running?

I guess this would point to problems with a certain missing redistributable that's not included in the _CommonRedist for some reason
please stand by
What the whating what? If you've reinstalled the redist stuff those files should all be there for Grim Dawn to use. Could be a permissions issue, where grimdawn.exe doesn't have the right permissions, so possibly running it with admin rights could work.
Otherwise, if that doesn't it's probably a hard drive error, so try running check disk with the /r and /f flags via cmd (see teh google for specifics) to fix any bad clusters and recover any damaged files. And yes, you do need both those flags, since with out /f any damaged files will not be recovered, which I learnt that the hard way.
Once that's done, reinstall the redists from freshly downloaded installers and in theory Grim Dawn should now launch. Oh and the installers need to be downloaded since that removes any chance of issues with the ones in the redist folder being corrupted for what ever reason.
Lastly, after running check disk on C:\ it also usually worth running system file check, since there's always a good chance OS files have been affected. Which can cause problems with windows updates and other fun...
There is no need to reinstall Windows.
All my characters work since this game was first available on steams client, it seems to be something about starting new characters with the new expansion the game just spaz's out and gives me a black non responding screen, then i load my Demolitionist, or Rouge that i've had for years and everything works fine.
