Reaping Strike Melee Only?

Does the Reaping Strike augment melee weapons only, or will it improve my ranged weapon?

If you need a specific weapon type, the tooltip will state it. Otherwise, a default attack proc applies to both melee and range attacks. Reaping strike does not have a required weapon type and will, according to the tooltip, effect "all default weapon attacks", including range.

An example for a skill needing a specific weapon type is the shaman skill "Might of the Bear". The tooltip for this talent says: Requires a two-handed melee or two-handed ranged weapon.

It can work with ranged weapons. Mythical Deathdealer's Sidearm is even made for Reaping Strike.
