Need Drain Essence Build Help

Having trouble deciding on a 2nd class.... I wouldn't mind going soldier for some extra toughness. I don't want to go arcanist as I'm tired of them, although I know it's a good combo. Occultist also seems like it could be good with the blood of dreeg and extra vit dmg, but I worry it'll be a glass cannon. Would soldier be a safe bet? Thanks!

So Occultist is a good deal then? I was just thinking that the witchblade weapon buff spell (forgot name exactly) would be good too

Cabalist is pretty good, but I must say a Spellbinder (Arcanist + Necromancer) is the best in Drain Essence, and if you can get the Uroboruuk's Guise set you will be almost invincible. You can facetank the entire game while channeling.

Mostly, because the Cabalist will use Ravenous Earth and Possession is giving you +X% poison damage.
You pick Harbinger of Souls if you are going to focus only in the channeling of Drain Essence and is converting some of its damage to Aether, because HoS gives you more vitality and aether damage.

Awesome, thanks for the info. What's your take on soldier? That's the most appealing to me imo, but would it be viable? I'm okay with a bit less dmg if he'd be more tough.

I don't usually play soldier. I saw Wes Oldenbeuving on youtube doing a Death Knight Drain Essence, but I haven't tried yet, but for me, the spirit of a Death Knight is so low, I don't really know if it is able to sustain the channeling of DE.

You might keep an eye on the Dreadwalker epic set https://www.grimtools.com/db/itemsets/132 instead of Uroboruuk if you want to focus on Vitality damage instead of Aether. It uses fewer slots and only needs 2 items to covert up to 60% Aether to Vitality (that's from all sources, too, not just DE). Far more compatible with Death Knight Drain Essence with a Spectral War Shield I think since you don't need the complete set for damage conversion. I do like the looks of that soldier build, very interesting AOE aspect to that shield.

Would there be a way to go Occultist, but still use Harbinger of Souls? I'm already 50 deep into my Necro's mastery bar. The only things I really see out of Occultist though are Soleal's, Blood of Dreeg, and maybe sigil of consumption, but meh.

I think I will go soldier though, and if the shield deal isn't energy efficent enough to sustain, I'll just rock a caster offhand and move some points around.
