Necromancer Drain essence skill question.
Can Necromancer Drain essence skill proc passives that rely on default attacks?

For example "Reaping Strike" and "Necrotic Edge" ? I know that the skill doesnt say it can proc such passives but i just want to make sure.

I am playing a range pet focused build in case it's relevant.

It's not a default attack replacer, it's a spell. Therefore no.

Chances are, it would best to remake your build on the Grim Calc, and post it here. Otherwise, I don't think you could get much help.

No.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I was wondering the same, since it's proc'ing my weapon's "10% chance on Attack" effect.

no because both of skill only work if you hit enemy with weapon. next time just create your own post is better than necroing some 2 year old post.

the answer to that question is literally in the thread if you had bothered reading the replies

I don't understand why people get bent out of shape about necro'ing something that's still relevant. Maybe you can help me understand that. Also, this is a necro subject. :D:

I did read the answer, but as I said, it seemed to be incorrect in my case, because Drain Essence proc'd my weapon's effect. Is it because in "10% chance on Attack", attack means any attack and not just weapon attacks? I honestly don't know.

I find it a bit ironic, that a necro thread was resurected. But yeah, necropost bad, and so on...

yes
"on attack" procs from gear/items can trigger off anything even auras (unique in that way), devotion procs "on attack" can also trigger off any attack type, it doesn't even have to do dmg, - except auras
Reaping Strike and Necrotic Edge are not procs, and the skills specifically states "activates off default attacks" - drain essence is not a default auto attack, but a spamable spell, default attack replacers are always clearly labeled as such (savagery, righteous fervor etc etc)

A Weapon Pool Skill like Reaping Strike, Markovian's Advantage, etc. is not the same as a regular "x% chance on attack" proc.

An "on attack" proc can be triggered by anything offensive that the character does - casting spells, applying/ticking debuffs that don't even deal damage, damage-dealing auras, even other "x% chance on attack" procs. You can also trigger all of your "on attack" procs at the same time with just one 'attack.' It also doesn't matter what item the "on attack" proc is attached to.

Weapon Pool Skills on the other hand can only be triggered one at a time by Default Attacks and Default Attack Replacer skills. They're an entirely different subject with respect to how they interact with the Default Attack/Default Attack Replacer skill.
