Let us say that he has a total of 20% damage absorbtion, as well as 80% resistance, and also absorb 1000 damage flat.
If his ability would deal 10000 damage to you(after resist, etc.) which would then be amplified by 314% and returned towards him, he would take a base of 31400 damage.
That is reduced by 80%(if it was a pure fire attack, for instance, and he has 80% resistance), making it 6280.
This is further reduced by the 20% damage absorbtion, making it 5024.
Finally we add the flat absorbtion amount, making it 4024.
So, you take 10000 damage, and 4024 is reflected back to him.
If he then had some "attack converted to health", he would be able to heal a lot of that back up with each attack as well.
If he also had some "reduce reflect damage" stats, it would also reduce how much damage he would take from the reflect.
A few circuit breakers would also help extend the life of the attacker(Menhir's Will, Turtle Shell, Arcane Barrier).
Without more information, however, it is pure guesswork about what happened.
Anyway, if my understanding of the reflect mechanic is correct, having max resistance of the damage you deal will largely negate the enemy's reflect %. Especially if you also have "ActH".
An 80% resist would mean that any return damage would be divided by 5. While your reflect(at about 300%) would only be a multiplier of 3.
So if it was a race relying on just that, he would clearly win.
If it turns out that the build is legit, it would be a real shame to call him a possible cheater here.
If it turns out to be a cheat build, just ignore the person in the future. No point in wasting more time on it.
As for his health not dropping, it could potentially be a latency issue(not showing his actual health fast enough, before it has recovered again).
If he is using the mythical Markovian+M.Tinkers, he could have very high absorbtion rate and health regen.
I just checked using Grimtools, and with just those items and some skill allocation(no devotions, components or augments), you are able to reach 2000 health regen per scond(That is when everything triggers though).
I would imagine getting rings that focus on health regen, a weapon with a bit of lifesteal, + devotions & other gear(components+arguments), it should be possible to reach 3k per second + what ever the liftsteal gives.
But as I said, this is pure speculation on my part.
Spellbreakers(or any class involving Arcanist) are still some of the best PvP classes to my knowledge, simply due to Ereoctes and Nullification. It is quite possible that you could win a rematch if you time Nullification right, since it would remove all the buffs(both defensive and offensive).
Life Leech resist has nothing to do with "attack damage converted to health".
In fact, I dont think players can deal life leech damage any more(the items and devotions that gave life leech has been changed in a previous patch).
Life Leech resistance is, to my knowledge, strictly PvE now(like Mad Queen).
