The choice you get to make as the gamer in control is how you want to balance your gear. Packing it all up with purples might look pretty but it doesn't necessarily mean more effective.
I'm getting more xp quicker on normal difficulty as aopposed to the gigher difficulties too.
My guess is that the monsters are just harder to kill, more plentyful, and more of them, without adapting the xp gain or even loot percentage.
ie., you are not gonna get showered with legendaries just because you are on challenger, if you are just lvl 10, you still need to be lvl high enough for the items to actually spawn, as it gives lvl based loot (and you kinda need the final waves for the really good chests too, which is hard when lvling sometimes)
having done both challenger and aspirant(for xp), it seems challenger did give more xp, but since more xp was needed "per lvl" higher up, -while waves being tougher to get through(ie more time spent) then yea, it could be argued that "xp per time" could be less, depending on how easy a time you have with it
but the same could be said about base game... doesn't matter if ultimate gives you 100x xp, if takes you 5mins to kills something at lvl 1, that took you 2hits/2seconds when playing on normal...
When i switch to challenger, things are much harder , i use a blessing and get movement locked on level 50 forcing me to get the rewards(died), and ot only are there a lot drops less, they also are less good every time over.
I'm level 65, been doing crucible a lot with this character.
and since you get more and more the higher lvls you get then yea, hitting wave 100 on aspirant vs 50 challenger would probably very much be noticeable in xp,
-but there is no way you are consistently getting good loot on aspirant wave 50, and crap on challenger 50... unless RNGesus really really isn't in your corner right now
"wave for wave" you get more on each increased difficulty, but you can't compare a fraction of a wave to another difficulty's higher wave...
edit, nvm, KG already said it much more concise lol -->
If I don't keep it short and sweet I'll waste hours on this kind of thing without realizing it.
(and i know several people that would appreciate me managing to be a bit more "brief" irl too)
