welp
Wait, wait, wait....just so we're clear here....are you saying Occultist is not beneficial to what I can only assume is a Cabalist pet build? Cuz that would be considered crazy talk in many circles.
Considering i increased my damage threefold by refunding the 25 or so points i had in occultist to focus on necromancer yeah, That and its boring just waiting for my pets to do everything, Im having more fun with my warlord.
So in that case, it just sounds like pet builds are not for you and making a Death Knight (Necro + Soldier), without pets, would likely be the better option for you.
I only say to stay away from pets because trying to make the character and the pets both powerful in late game is near impossible. You will have greater success focusing on either the player or the pets. The only instance where this is possible is Player Scaling pets, but they traditionally do not take aggro from you but will support you and their damage is based off your damage stats.
Death Knight also has A LOT of powerful item support late game. Definitely a great option.
Otherwise, find out how to make it work, buddy. I believe in you.
I believe in you.
Its what i'd like to try, But i don't want to level another character all over again, I was looking at how gdstash works on the game's forums but i can't even find the download link, The one i did find to download called gd defiler is a damn installer and im not installing ♥♥♥♥, I've used other editors and they've never asked me to install them.
GDStash can be found here; https://forums.crateentertainment.com/t/tool-gd-stash/29036
I'd do your due diligence though researching it...but pretty sure it requires you to download your Cloud saves, back them up, turn off Cloud saves for the game in both Steam and in Grim Dawn options, make a folder in Documents\My Games\ called "Grim Dawn" to place the aforementioned save you downloaded.
But please research it more if you go down that path.
Grim dawn doesn't save files locally?
It does, but those are found here:
[C:]/Program Files (x86)/Steam/userdata/########/219990/remote/save/main
The ######## part being a different numbered folder for everyone.
But this is only a copy of the Cloud Save. And while it and the Cloud Save should be the same, I would personally download the Cloud save and use it. But hey, you "could" copy this save and move it to the aforementioned location in Documents and turn off Cloud saving (not the preferred method).
But there are tutorials on this. Not that it's hard at all but Cloud Saving is on by default for this game and I'm pretty certain GDStash requires a local save...not linked to a Cloud save.
Again, please do your due diligence on this...I don't want to be held responsible for you messing up your save or losing everything.
EDIT: Maybe it is okay to use that local save when doing this...I'd still personally use the Cloud one but here is a Youtube video showing the process required to switch Grim Dawn from saving to the Cloud to saving locally:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEASwrQ5C7k
Just remember that if you do this, please be sure to backup your files regularly to some other location, be it a separate hard drive/online stroage/flash drive/etc.
Or you could just aim it at the location of the Steam offline copies of the cloud saves. And yes, it will work just fine and the newer copies will be updated to the cloud when you start the game.
You should still backup the saves in a separate location just to be safe though.
And that vision leads to "You're just ♥♥♥♥♥♥, Repeat everything from scratch" scenarios.
Why should i bother? What incentive is there to do another ten or twelve hours repeating everything to change one solitary variable rather than spend that time on something else that won't ♥♥♥♥ me?
