Most ARPGs dont have any either, it isnt a special thing about this one
So, you sound angry, as if asking about an industry-wide standard, nearly ubiquitous control scheme somehow hurts your feelings. I apologize if I'm taking this incorrectly, but your tone sounds condescending.
It's not explicitly stated or even hinted at on the store page that this is a mouse click fest.
At any rate, there's a Autohotkey derived workaround for those in the know.
Look for "Universal WASD controls for top-down RPGs".
Thanks for not helping.
I think you'll get used to it if you just try. I still remember when I played my first 3D game which used a mouse, and I thought that it was crazy, why would anyone use a mouse to move the camera. I had only played keyboard and top-down games till then, so it was really hard to learn, but in the end it didn't take years, it took hours. The same when using a smartphone or a PS controller for the first time.
If it was clear it would be on the store page or stickied. Maybe those forum warriors who enjoy that playstyle and don't want to see questions about it should lobby to have it clearly addressed.
Hey, I'll pre-face my comment with the statement this is not meant to be hateful, condescending, or mean in any way.
Your insistence on industry standard or saying the store page should make it clear this is a "click-fest" isn't really the best use of your time. I'll list three reasons.
1.) It's an ARPG. Very few ARPG's, especially those modeled after the hack n' slash formula Diablo made popular will have WASD control. I honestly can only think of one game like that and it would be Dungeon Siege III and that game is nothing like Grim Dawn, Diablo, PoE, etc. This style of game just works best with point and click.
2.) WASD is not optimal for a game like this. It could provide an interesting movement alternative but point and click allows you to assign a movement path for your character and not worry about actively controlling them. Considering you also use the number keys for your skills using WASD for movement would require you to give up some form of skill mobility.
3.) You're still going to have to use the mouse. Even if you add WASD you'll need to be able to target enemies properly. This whole game is designed around point and click like a classic ARPG. So even if you have your preferred movement added to the game it doesn't take out the necessity of the mouse.
I hope this clears some things up.
You really shouldn't not try the game just because you can't control it with WASD, it's an awesome ARPG and worth every penny.
Bastion is a game that is controlled by WASD. IIRC mouse movement isn't implemented there.
Maybe this is an alternative for you.
