Still, what's up with this minimum effort of theirs. How come the don't proc devotion skills on dummies unless they are instructed to?

idk, but pet always ignore dummies that for sure.

Same reason things like guardians and blade spirits dont attack dummies

Blade Spirits do attack dummies if they get close enough. Same with mines, they don't have a choice. It's not that they are not doing damage, they just don't proc devotion skills.

Not true, they don't attack, that is their passive aura damaging things as such it won't proc on attack devotions for obvious reasons. You can see the difference for example with blade spirits if you press pet attack they will actively engage the dummy and the entire animation is different. Further examples would be mortar trap which will not fire at dummies unless instructed, its just that thermite mines etc have a damage on touch effect thats misleading

Yeah, I see what you mean. It's confusing because both the passive aura and the attack do the same damage and on the skill's description there is only 1 attack listed. Always thought it was the same one attack and thus each hit could proc devotion skills. With mines there isn't even any difference.

Blade spirit is odd their actual attack weirdly is a ranged dart like thing that radiates from them when they revolve, but they also do the same damage passively to things which touch them, never understood why its not listed as seperate abilities. With thermite mines the damage is just as it says to anything that touches them but it needs to be 'agro'd' so to speak to proc things attached to them or it counts as a passive damage. Imagine it like you cant bind offensive procs to player auras even ones which do damage like aura of censure, for this same reason.

Their aura hits every sec, while the projectile thing (which also does aoe on hit) is used separately around every 3 sec, which means they each get a chance to proc skills only every 3 sec. I'm guessing it works like this to balance out that they have different internal timers for procing devotion skills, or that you can manage to get 4 permanent ones.

Otherwise there wouldn't be any problem for their passive aura to proc devotions. For example Sigils (which I now realize are better for procs like Eldritch Fire and Acid Spray) each get the same chance to proc every sec, but they can't for example spawn 4 Whirpools at the same time.

Hmm not sure about this, i believe they can proc every second its just they need to be actively attacking a target to do so.

I tried it with Acid Spray and that seemed to be the case. It only proced with the projectiles.
