Where exactly do I find a Crescent Moon?
Despite extensive online searching, I have not been able to find any answers as to where it drops, or whether it could just drop from 'anything' at a super-low rate.

Anyone here know the answer?

From a Blueprint.

The blueprint I found online is for the Mythical Crescent Moon. Are you telling me there's a blueprint for the regular Crescent Moon?

What difficulty level? And do I require one of the expansions to see it drop?

No answer automatically means that it is a global drop. In Grim Dawn, you must assume that unless explicitly told otherwise. Crescent Moon is indeed a global drop. Mythical Crescent Moon is a blueprint, though.

Good to know. Guess this means I just have to endlessly massacre mobs, until the RNG finally relents and gives me what I want.

One other question: Can the Crescent Moon randomly drop from any difficulty? Or do I have better odds in a specific difficulty?

gear usually scales to the difficulty so it prob has the best chances of dropping in late normal (after aom) or epic, most gear in ult will be lv84-94

Quantity/quality increases with difficulty but item level is dependent on monster & area level. I'm not 100% on area level (seemed kind of static in the past) but monster levels depend on the area's min/max, the character's level, and an offset (+/-).

Ideally you'd want monsters ~ level 50 in early Ultimate. Realistically you won't stay ~ level 50 for long in Ultimate so early Elite is probably a better bet. The Steps of Torment maybe. If the monsters get much above level 75 you're likely to stop seeing level 50 required legendaries.

Geez, I'm already level 72 on Elite difficulty...

In which case your better off making do with what you have (if one drops great if not no biggie) and getting a bit higher so you can start farming for the BP for the mythic version, as farming for BPs is technically much easier.

i think too some lv50 legendaries are craftable so you can get gear that your level prevents you from gettting and ya its area location as some enemies flat out level cap so you cannot get best gear in lower diffiuclties cause enemies wont scale high enough to get them to drop it.

Unfortunately, I haven't purchased any of the Grim Dawn expansion packs yet, so even if I wanted the Mythical Crescent Moon pattern, I wouldn't be able to acquire it right away.

I get paid later this month though, so I might be able to acquire the expansion packs afterwards, assuming I have any spare funds left after I pay my bills.

In that case forget everything I say about where to farm, 80+ items, etc. Just farm Ultimate wherever you best can. Without the expansion there are no legendaries above level 75 and level 50 legendaries don't stop dropping.
