try to stick to a couple actual skills, the increases in damage are worth it.
First. If you picked Demo with dual wielding in mind, you can get the item that enables you to do that from the Devils Crossing faction vendor at Respected I believe. If not, then you'll have a demolitionist similar to mine.
I primarily use Fire Strike, Blackwater, Flashbang, and Jacks. This gives me a decent amount if CC, as the confusion and stun from FB/Jacks is enough to hold most monsters on my second run in place. Blackwater I use to zone. I have Flame Touched and the defensive aura from the bottom that procs whee you get hit.
I took Kraken, Empyrion, Compass, Candle, Turtle, and the Obelisk. I forget most the names sitting here, but that is mostly defensive, and I find that to my benefit. Turtle shield is great.
Dont face tank. Stutter step is a thing, and I've heard a lot of people say you lose DPS by moving. Again, stutter step is a thing.
Flank, because the ranged monsters in the back, particularly if they are healers, will not get hit by most of your abilities.
I mean, it's really up to you. Had I known about the DW item from Devils Crossing, my character probably would look a lot different, but I didn't see it until two weeks after I started the game. So there is that.
Occultist for boosting chaos damage, curse of frailty to slow enemys and Doom bolt which is important for boss fight.
Chance to confuse means the enemies do something other than attack you.
Reduced DA means you're more likely to cause critical hits.
Use it. Love it.
OP seems new, guessing he is not on Elite or even Ultimate yet, probably not even that high lvl i guess
Flashbang does 0 dmg, the lowered DA is somewhat meaningless on Normal/low monster lvls, since you need to stack it with points decently. Making it a somewhat fairly useless skill for the first 40 lvls or so
Where players are much better off stacking pure dmg or defenses, which obliterates enemies or increases survival/overall adds much more value and versatility than flashbang at those lvls
sure, 1pt it to get the initial confuse maybe, and possibly a pt in searing light. But up until logh/lvl50, you're way better off just stacking +dmg skills like investing in fire strike line, BWC, canister/grenado etc or defenses like Maiven sphere(if actually going arcanist ofc), DA/OA/resist buffs
putting too many points in a skill that doesn't add much straight value at lower lvls (imo) could actually be considered a "waste", and possibly slow your progress since each pt is pretty valuable early on, and just "throwing away" 10-11 pts could be less helpful
^tbut yea, if you ever move to Elite/Ultimate, pass the final boss in the base game and go towards expansion(AoM/FG), Flashbang becomes really helpful at those points, since at higher levels reducing their defense ability can be really worth the points
since you are starting out, i'd do fire strike and put it on left mouse button as main attack, and level that entire tree minus the lighting addon. To support it you can level flame touched to inprove your fire damage and more importantly your offense ability, then level vindictive flame for total speed which makes you shoot faster.
For defense you have blast shield which is really good at 12/12. Occlulist gives you solaels witchfire which skyrockets your atk speed, curse of frailty add on vulnerability to boost fire damage, and blood of dreeg tree for a self heal and increasing your resists and def. Seeing how demo has no exclusive skill you prob have to use possesion which gives damage absorb and 100% disrupt resits which is really good.
Leveling up you want to max asap base skill fire strike and then get 1 pt explosive strike, your first major boost is when you hit 50 demo and max brimstone which makes the fire strike start to aoe.
The combo you picked like stated above becomes godly once you can make the transition to chaos damage since occuulst has very high boosts to that and you can convert fire strike to chaos later on though thats way later on so just do fire ver until you get the endgame pyro gear. once you complete either the darkblaze or harbringer set, you're set for the rest of the game as those are built for your class combo.
example of harbinger endgame pyro

sky high 130k dps fire strike converted to chaos, and 150k-300k doombolt, tankier of the 2 endgame pyros
example of endgame darkblaze pyro

very squishy but does 150-170k fire strike and atks faster then endgame harbringer
i got both of those to the end and feel if you can build either of those minus the greens as those are really rare, pyro ends up wrecking the game as a chaos focused dps gunner, and can reach the end as fire ver until he gets needed gear.
Urgh i hate grenado with a passion, its so clunky and gets randomly snagged on things. Does good damage but its horrible to use imo
Im certainly no expert maybe some other folk here manage to make grenado work for them, but for me of all the demo skills that is the most awkward to use, often it will hit a mob you didnt intend (if you suck at targetting like me) and be a total waste as its AOE isnt great. Mines and BWC are just imo objectively better as tehy both do decent damage as well but also offer debuff options.
BWC cocktail is excellent, i again suck at using it (lol) but I think it is much better than grenado. So yeah imo you should spec out of grenado dump them into BWC and/or thermite mines. Honorable mention to mortar trap its actually pretty strong if you pump it up enough and it allows you to kite against very tough mobs and bosses.
