Help with Vindicator Build

So i was thinking about a new Character (HC Mode) and i realy like Lightning and the Shaman, so i wanne try a Vindicator.

So i just put Points into stuff i think works best as a pure Lightning Caster, but to be honest i realy dont know anything about these 2 Classes.

Can this even work?
Where did i wasted Points, maybe on Wind Devil?
Which important Skill did i overlooked, is Primal Strike a must?
Which Skill is useless, maybe Storm Totem?

looks ok. i'd probably drop the base wind devil skill to 1 and invest those points into inquisitor seal and maybe also wendigo totem. you said it's supposed to be a HC character, so some extra defense/survival stuff would be more useful.

storm totem is fine. actually it will probably be the main damage skill of your character and a lightning caster without storm totem would be awkward. get a groble sky effigy and the storm totems will carry you all the way to ultimate.

primal strike is a great main damage skill for a shooter or melee, but not for a caster. you'll be busy recasting storm totems, wind devils and storm boxes and you won't have much time to spam a filler attack. also there's a level 75 component that gives you a chain lightning skill. you can use that as a filler attack if you don't like waiting for cooldowns. before level 75 you could use fireblast or ice spike or nova from the low level components as filler attacks

And yes more survival looks far better.
Iam often not sure which Skills are the ones who are not worth to put higher then 1.

Yeah i wasnt sure if storm totem and storm box are neough dps to be enough in ultimate.

Yeah GD is great in that aspect because there actually are a lot of possibilities. When people tell you that it's not worth to put more than 1 in a skill, it doesn't mean that it is bad to do so, it means it's not optimized. Generally speaking all the skills are viable for most of the content.

Personally, I would also get Aura of Censure instead of Stormcaller's Pact. AoC is simply borderline op on any elemental build.
Only downside, you will look like you're on fire, which goes against the lightning theme of the build

Ah i havent even noticed that AoC gives - Res.
So every -Res from Skills, Items and Devotions stack?

I mean i dont mind the Fire aura when the Skill is much better, iam still dealing Lightning damage.


And iam not looking for the perfect Build, i think i should go away from OP Builds and start to try things out, even if i fail, there is another Char waiting.

All the "-X% resistance" stack. From the "X reduced target's resistances" and "X% reduced target's resistances", only the strongest one of each debuff counts.

There are 3 different types of resistance reduction.
The -% type, like the one on Aura of Censure and Wind Devil's Raging Tempest, stacks with every other source of RR;
The -flat type, like the one from Rhowan's Crown's Elemental Storm, doesn't stack with other -flat sources;
The %reduced type, like the one from the Viper, doesn't stack with other %reduced sources, and this is also the weakest type of RR because the amount of reduction is based on the enemy's resistance percentage.

Oh thats realy good to know, so elemental storm should be my only flat -res source.
