Would a Dervish build be suitable for Demonslayer set?
I finally completed my Mythical Demonslayer set last night (just need to craft the hat). I'd like to do a build with the Demonslayer set as the end-game goal. I'm currently looking at either a Dervish build (Nightblade + Oathkeeper) and using the vitality transmuters or a Witchhunter build (Nightblade + Occultist). Any suggestions? I'd hate to see the Demonslayer set just sit there in the inventory for no good reason. :steammocking:

Nightblade mastery is a must, the other side is your choice.

But what would you choose? I'm turned off on Occultist class because I made the huge mistake of having a Warlock as my first build (and that bias is very unfair to Occultist class!) - a build that to this day has seen so many revisions that it now costs me 15,000 iron bits to reset a single skill point in it; and it's still as squishy as ever no matter what gear I try with it. I'm just nervous that i'd be a glass cannon pairing Occultist with a Nightblade, so was eyeing Oathkeeper. But I've never tried either pairing before so would like some casual input.

occultist might be one of first picks, then maybe necromancer (cuz of vitality DMG support) but if you want tankiness... can't reallly go wrong with the new oathkeeper class.

had a quick go at theorycrafting it and between nightblades bladespirits + demonslayer set and oathkeepers guardians of empyrion + scion of dreeg and either word of solael or mythical grasp of the dead you have 6 invincible player scaling pets all doing vitality damage with a vitality resistance debuff aura from celestial presence, the transmute for phantasmal blades also makes it vitality focused so seems like a lot of potential synergy

EDIT: also dont know why all the hate for warlock, i consider my warlock my best build

Phantasmal Blades leeches so much life and does enough damage with the Demonslayer set and the right gear that it is hard to really go wrong - just pick something with Vitality resist reduction. Occultist is the classic offensive murdery choice, Necromancer has (had? with the Ishtak absorb nerf) strong defensive potential, Shaman was kind of last place. Oathkeeper would have less flat damage added to PB than Occultist, some really nice gear wouldn't be optimal, but it would do better vs crowd control (which is kind of a pain for Witch Hunter Demonslayers).

Just as an update for anyone who is curious, I ended up going with a Reaper (Necromancer + Nightblade) for this build (thanks KG and FlamingX1 for suggestion). I've named the character Van Helsing. In my 730 hours of GD, I have 5 level 100 Ultimate builds going and several others I'm still leveling up. So far, this the most satisfying build I've got. It's so satisfying watching those phantasmal blades spread out at 200% cast speed. It may look like a bit of a glass cannon with the low DA, but I just killed Lokarr with it in about 60 seconds with no potion buffs (facetanked him with torment active; zipped away using glyph; activated blade barrier in o-sh|t moments; rinsed and repeated). It will facetank any main campaign boss (base game, AoM, or FG) without any issue.

That's not a bad build... I am really excited to see you are enjoying Reaper, I copied one of the Reaper Builds off the Compendium

And I got to say.. Having Bone Harvest doing 200k per hit on a 2.5s cd is nice.. Shadow Strike, Pneumatic, and Ring of Steel usually full heal me all the time, only have to potion when things get sticky D:

That is very nice! I've never followed build guides cause I never have the gear they need, lol. I've finally got a few complete lvl 94 legendary sets and have a few more that I can probably compete if I transmute the duplicates. My Trozan set is now complete so I'm tempted to start a Druid build with that as the end-game goal. Even with my Reaper Demonslayer I'm still waiting on the right kind of boots to drop and would like to get a medal that supports the build better instead of just providing resistances and energy (those phantasmal blades w/ Frenetic Throw need almost as much juice as an AAR build).

Edit: As a side note, are the Phantasmal Blades w/ Frenetic Throw considered a default weapon attack? They deal main hand damage but when I tried Necrotic Edge & Reaping Strike on the practice dummies I didn't notice any damage increase so assumed the Phantasmal Blades w/ Necrotic Edge doesn't proc them. I really, really wish Crate would put a Yes/No flag in all attack skills that says whether or not the skill is a default weapon attack. I wonder how many n00bs (myself included) invest points in skills that never proc because the descriptions are so bloody vague.
