Is the Lokarr set worth the time?
A friend and I were wanting to grind out the Lokarr set until we saw the process in which to get it. I'm asking for the both of us if it's worth the time we'd potentially put into getting it?

If you are going to make a lot of new builds, don't care for the constant altering of gear during levelling, would like to gain +40% xp to speed up your levelling, then yes, it is worth the time. Also, get the double xp potions from Malmouth Resistance and you have an easy +140% xp gain.

The set is also incredible strong (not armour, but other defenses) and if you know what you're doing you can actually use it all the way to lvl 94. I personally switch out to other gear at level 75 though. But to each their own.

Well, I've botched my first character. As a follow-up question, would it be wiser to stick it out and fix the build or start my new character now that I know what I'm doing?

If you really, really like levelling, probably not! But the real question is who gets the first full set? I levelled about 8 chars to the end of the first act with it. I am now trying a char till he dies once. Currently level 47, and not even close to a problem yet but this death knight is a beast by design. :)

Yes, it's worth the effort, a 40% increase in XP is extremely impactful. Lokarr, overall, is pretty easy to defeat, especially in a group. If you want to maximize experience gain, then go for it, 2 guys shouldn't have much of an issue killing him.

Yes it's definitely worthwhile. It's not really that hard to get either. You can singlehandedly farm the entire Lokarr set within a few hours.

Well, Lokarr is no joke for any new player, he is a Celestial boss after all. Without a build with all final end game gear and somewhat designed to defeat Lokarr, it will be hard to win that fight.

He's not the most challenging Celestial boss by any means, but he is still going to be an incredible challenge for any new player. I know it took me some time to accumulate the gear needed to make an end game build and probably even longer to turn that gear into a suitable build that could win the fight.

Any recommendations for a Templar going up against him then?

First debuff him with both of the following:

  • Flash Freeze + Absolute Zero for -%Fire Resist and -%Physical Resist
  • Guardian of Empyrion + Celestial Presence for -% Fire Resist and -% Physical Resist

Guardian of Empyrion + Celestial Presence is more effective so if you can only go with one, that one would be preferable (max out Celestial Presence - no need to max out Guardian). Then just spam something that deals heavy fire and physical damage. Make sure you have a point in Mirror of Ereoctes (a one point wonder) for those o'sh|t moments.

Flash Freeze doesn't affect him since he's immune to Freezing. Flash Freeze's debuff only affects targets for its duration.

Theres a Wilhiem Necklace that makes you scream at people and adds another 8% plus Veteran is 10% more as well.. If you have access to Ultimate you can get a Merit for the new character and use it and then immediately start turning in small side quests and stuff on Ultimate at 55k exp per quest in Devils Crossing.
1-20 in literally 20 minutes.

Thanks for the correction. I didn't know that (haven't used my arcanist build for quite a while).

You can actually reach level 20 in 2 or 3 minutes. With Lokarr set + Experience Potion equipped, activate your blue rune to unlock all of the rifts and then go to the Conclave of the Three rift and pickup all of the books and writings next to the vendors and cult leaders (I think there's 4 or 5 of them). Then go to the witches coven in Udenbog and pickup all of the books and writings there (I think there's 3). Then rift to Barrowholm and go to the first house on the right and open a chest with a note in it. Then continue down the road and go to last house on the left (past Scorv's house) and open another chest with a note in it. Read all of those notes and you'll be at around level 20 (correction: 15) instantly.

Edit: Just did it again to be sure I was giving the right numbers. It's about level 15 in 2 or 3 minutes.

Or you can do something com[pletely different.. Beat the First quest on Ultimate and be rewarded with 55k exp right off the rip. 22 in 5 minutes. Talk to the guy at the Gate for another 25k and bam there is even more shazam to the bam

I actually just went through that process of grinding the lokarr set to make a new character. More than worth it, used the armor set all the way up until lvl 94 with only 20 deaths on character (oppressor build).
