What's the best general loot area for you?
I have 3 builds based on soldier: warden, deathknight and warlord.
I regularly make runs through the Ancient grove and Feral thicket to get to the Vinalton vendor and his recipes, which are great for soldier builds but also others, as he often sells +1 skills recipes for soldier or other builds.
Doing it in Ultimate is a real challenge yet, as you can also encounter the beast nemesis (in every difficulty if you make the run with a level 100 build) either in Ugdenborg coming from Coven's refuge, and even in the Ancient grove or Feral thicket themselves. So you have to earn the loot or items sold, even if you can avoid the multiple bosses, heroes or nemesis if you are only focused on the vendor and not on the loot ;)
Do you have other suggestions for runs to possibly get to a good general "ghost vendor" for recipes and maybe on the way have multiple heroes and bosses for loot?
That also leads me to an additional question: what's the most challenging area for you, with the hardest enemies, so maybe the best general loot to get, whatever your build?

i'm mostly hunting for material only, my farming route like this:
>collecting aether crystal in underground transit
>hunting for manticore eye in jagged waste
>pooking some hornet nest to get some royal jelly, in swarming hive and stirring hive
>getting some Chthonic Seal of Binding, in tomb of korvaak
>Blood of Ch'thon in bastion of chaos with thier skeleton dungeon of course, you can trade them with tainted brain or ancient heart.
>Ugdenbloom in ugdenbog(ofcourse), Aether Cluster in Malmouth.

challenging area for me, i don't remember but i really hate a small space with danse mob.

If it's loot you want, then Steps of Torment is generally the quickest and easiest dungeon to run through, with tons of elites, and I could swear that its trap-treasure room is the richest one.

If you also need experience though, the best would be Bastion of Chaos. The Ancient Grove is just as rich, but it's also way harder.

Thanks for your answers so far and possibly others, and good game to you all :)
Makes me think of a suggestion for Steam: why (if I'm not mistaken) is there no choice to "like" answers, for example like in Twitter? There is a choice where you can choose that a message is "inappropriate", so there should be also a choice to like some :)

U can always mark an answer as the one who responds to your question, but u're right there is no mark system.

I read somewhere that there was a thing with duplicate. So, I think that it would be interesting to clear the 4 rogue dungeons, then kill the nemesis, then do some SR looping. Or maybe just SR looping I guess but in rogue dungeons you can drop very specifis items which is cool.

For aether crystals, shards, clusters and manticore eyes, port valbury has plenty to give. There are lots of aether crystals formations on the map with tons of aetherwarped manticores to score eyes from.

Yup.

But everybody hates port valbury :(

I agree lol: even with max aether resistance, I've never done this area, having enough pain in the ass to do the Herald of Destruction or Herald of the Flame aetherial quests.
But nevertheless, I've noted this challenge if I'll need according materials later!
Thanks anyway ;)

To be more exhaustive here is a list of my farming areas:

- COMPONENTS -

To get components easily you can go to these routes, but keep in mind you can also dismantle the legendary and epic items to get components.

- Aether crystals : Underground Transit
- Ugdenbloom : From the first portal of Gloomwald to the 2nd, then the area next to the Coven, then the Undergrowth; farming Ancient Grove is also an extraordinary way to get stuff and ugenblooms. The best of these places to farm ugdenbloom is the Undergrowth imo, since it gives a lot of them and you'll find many flowers in the way of finding the entrance. There is also another area I'll talk about later.
- Chthonic seals : Darkvale obviously, the blood grove, and another area I'll talk about later.
- Wendigo spirits : Another area I'll talk about later.
- Battered shells : The nest where you fight Ravna in the main quests, near homestead.

The other area I'm talking about now is the Edge of Reality, but only the one you're going to when you wanna fight Lokarr : Here you'll get, amongst many other great things, ugdenblooms, wendigo spirits, and chthonic seals.

- Celestial essence : Start at the portal of the Korvan City ruins, and go to the extreme south-east, you'll see 2 pillars, that's the area where you can get the nearest Korvan Secrets chest.
- Celestial Lotus : Hard to reliably farm so I get legendaries and I dismantle them hoping for lotuses.
- Celestial essence : who needs to farm those ?

- ITEMS -

To farm for items you need to take your char's power into account.
Keep in mind that duplicates have a lower chance to drop so, the more you farm in the same game session, the more likely you are to get different items.

- Rogue dungeons are great for non-optimized characters. Steps of Torment has the best ease/quantity ratio, but Bastion of Chaos seems to be the best bet to get a ton of items in one run. Always, ALWAYS do the Death Chambers. (places where heroes spawn and when they are all killed a chest is opened)
- Nemesis are great for powerful but still non-optimized characters. They also drop a lot of blueprints if you lack those.
- Shattered Realm is great too but if you want the maximum loot you need to have an optimized char.

Rogue dungeons bosses can drop very powerful MI items and the chests from those dungeons can drop 1 different item of the vanquisher set each, so they are extremely interesting.

Shattered realm is definitely your best bet in terms of quantity/time if you can reach the highest lvls.
