Mods to make game more difficult? Grimarillion?

Hello. My friend and I picked up this game a few days ago and playing through it has just been really easy. I've read that it gets harder on the last difficulty, but it's been 10 hours so far and we're on normal/veteran and it's just not fun facerolling through every single boss and enemy, and then apparently having to do it again on the next difficulty until we finally get to the last one.

I've looked at mods to increase the difficulty and saw people talking about Grimarillion. It looks quite well made, but somewhat old. Does anybody know if it increases the difficulty throughout the game, and if it's compatible with just the base game (my friend and I don't have the expansions). As well as anyone's experience and thoughts with it would be appreciated. Thanks

Old.. sure. But still actively developed. I haven't yet tried the mod out tho so I can't say how it works but it includes jiaco's Grimmer and Grimmest which indeed ramps up the difficulty. In particular it increases the numbers of heroes and bosses you face I believe.

Note that these increased numbers can have an adverse effect on your FPS. The "fix" for that is to: Kill them as fast as you can ;)

As for compatibility with the base game you would have to read thru the instructions. I can't say for certain if it is compatible with just the base game any longer.
