To CRATE Regarding your Forums
WTF would you break 6 years of forum links for people searching for info / items. Much rather have the old posts and info than any new forum features, This is causing me to move on to other games rather than buy your DLCs as every link I find on a web search no longer works since last week and it's just too much effort to find many things now.

Yes, having the website get hacked regularly cause it was using ancient forum software was definitely the preferable solution.

I realize that old links no longer work because they point to a forum that no longer exist. That is unfortunate. You can thank the hacker.

If you have an idea for how to alleviate this, feel free to let us know.

I can't get access back to the new forums...email confirmation will not go to my address when i do lost pw, checked spam and deleted nothing I have done this twice. Even tried to start a new account with gmail same deal. Posted on your facebook page about this issue and my comment was deleted. Would be nice to get back to the mods support...

Guess I'll have to seems they don't actually read their own FB page or here. Sent them an email on the situation, thanks for the suggestion MFS

Do people even still actually do that? I know I sure try not to anymore. The first couple years it existed, sure, I bought into the fad - but it went rapidly downhill from then on and now it's just 'there' to get ahold of someone if I really need to.

And by-the-by, 'they'(Zantai) does read here. Doesn't mean they make it their mission in life.

You should have made another subdomain for the forum to show in archived/read only state, then replace all the links with a find and replace command oldforums url to newforums url and then post an announcement on the new active forum that the archived version exists and all post content creators should copy/paste their old thread into the new active forums.

Simple solution, and yes before you say anything, I have done this for myself in the past when I was using SMF forums and upgraded to xen.

Also, extra explanation:

Steps:

1 - Make a subdomain for example and according to your new domain scheme:
https://forums.crateentertainment.com/c/grimdawnoldforums

2 - Move the old forums (I hope you have a backup) to the new subdomain and set them to archived state (all forums software have this)

3 - Run a database command or if your forum software have a URL updater tool then even better:
Find old URL and then add *, like:
forums.com/oldforums/*

replace with:
https://forums.crateentertainment.com/c/grimdawnoldforums/*

(what this does is to replace the main domain for the old forum with the new url and keep the folder structure intact, this has to be done with either the database or forum tool as most of them have this to make it easier for relocations)

4 - Post announcement in the new active forum (the real one) stating that you provided with an archived read only version of the old forums so people can browse old topics and save and/or repost them to the new forums.

Done!

As I've said in another thread, the old forum is a security risk. We have an internal backup of it, but it's not going to be available for public access.

A reply from me is literally earlier in this thread...but yes, contacting Support is the logical step.

I'm trying to create an account there and still no confirmation email. Hopefully it'll arrive eventually, but I'd think having new account creation would be a top priority.

Luckily I'm patient.

Wow now the support doesn't want to help me resolve this...

Yeah...I'm so unhelpful, responding to you via our support email at 9PM, trying to figure out why you and you alone can't register.

I like nice helpful devs. I have supported you guys since kickstart thanks for helpful the attitude dude.

PS Oh yeah look above I'm not the only one.

I just want to be able to get the forums, seriously...
Oh for f*ck's sake, Zantai can't just magic you up a solution, so have some f*cking patience and wait for them to find a f*cking solution to fix this. Because not being able to access the forum is hardly going to harm you in any significant way.
Zantai  [udvikler] 11. juni 2019 kl. 18:48
Issue is resolved. No need to continue that topic.

If someone has issues signing up, they can contact our support email and we'll take a look.

Everything is functioning as it should on the website's end.
