Oathkeeper Question-Consecration
If anyone could clarify why putting skill points in consecration doesn't increase dps even though every point put into this skill increases attack speed, I would appreciate it.

My understanding of "charged" abilities like Savagery and Righteous Fervor is that their "upgrade" nodes don't have any effect unless you have at least one charge. So it does increase DPS, but only when you have at least one charge active on RF. If you could charge up RF and then add a point to Consecration, you should be able to see it increase DPS, at least until the charges wore off.

Granted I'm not one of the gurus who understand all the details of the game mechanics, so I could be misunderstanding something.

Pretty much what you said Roland. Charge Righteous Fervor on up and THEN check up on your stats - quickly.

you are spot on. Righteous Fervor doesn't increase dps as it charges up until you add consecration. thank you

Not to nitpick it or anything (or a possible slight misunderstanding) but - "Righteous Fervor DOES increase dps AS it charges up - with or without consecration. Adding Consecration will boost DPS via the +% Attack Speed bonus it provides as Righteous Fervor charges up each hit." Just an FYI for any other new people that read that, lest they become confused.

Read Righteous Fervor closely. You start with your base stats. As you hit with RF you get a damage boost in percentages until you reach max charge.. thus getting the full boost at max charge. Adding points in Consecration boosts your Attack speed gradually with each charge, thus further increasing your DPS in that manner.

It does, even with just 1 single point it adds base flat damage to your attack.

Do you mean the displayed DPS on the character sheet doesn't go up unless you have consecration? Because RF is supposed to increase damage (and thus DPS).

thats right. And it doesnt matter if you have one point in consecration or 12, after the first charge brings up the dps, it doesnt rise anymore with each additional charge

You should be more clear about the displayed DPS vs actual DPS. It's a known problem that the displayed DPS can sometimes be off for various reasons, including accurately reflecting the effect of charged skills. It isn't a huge issue but it can be annoying at times.
