Pet/summoner builds will focus on pet scaled pets (gear/devotions that has "Bonus to all pets" on it).
Player scaled pets gain bonuses from everything else. For example, blade spirit. If you boost your cold, piercing or bleeding damage, its damage will go up.
Pet scaled pets can be built around, player scaled pets are more utility than anything else (great for devotion procs, especially blade spirit, and guardian of empyrion (since you can summon 2 with only 2 skill point)).

Player scaling pet, ergo not a true pet. It wont benefit from pet bonuses and wont do stuff like draw agro that pets with finite health do
well by definition and gd mechanics its one of the two types of pets as posted also above
I think the op was asking for the purposes of a build, i mean clearly its called a pet anyone who can read can see that. But for the purposes of a build its a player scaling pet and operates totally differently to a traditional pet
