Is there a fun Battle mage type of build?

Like something that is bruiser like. Dishes out damage, but also is able to take damage. But uses both spells, and some sort of melee build. Pretty much a battle mage XD.

What are the two classes you're using? I know one is the arc class. what is the other?

Im thinking of doing Shamen/arcan. But im not sure how well that would work. Like I want to go in, and bash heads while having some aoe spells going off. And Life stealing a lot to keep my health up.

arcanist + necromancer.

druid mostly a tanky caster

Almost all caster builds in the game fill your requirements. It's just that not all builds are naturally so, you will needs lots of gear. As a demo fanboy i'm gonna say everything works unless it has no demo ^^

Have you considered a build using the Spellscourge set? You can be a shield tank and still use the Devastation spell.

I liked arcanist+soldier, tank for days mostly passive and Cadence with the elemental converter hits like a dumptruck, along with access to arcanists spells.

I will admit I never did complete a playthrough with it, the newest classes came out and I kinda forgot about it, but while I was playing it though was mostly invincible, and was dishing out good damage... every 3rd hit or so, lol

Thanks for all the comments. Now I know there are a fair amount of options, so from here I will see how my gear turns up, and kind of build from there.
