What is the difference between an empowered and a transcendent relic?
Can someone please explain to me the difference between empowered and transcendent relics? I am newer and my character is a 55 demo/occultist going off of my "own" build that leans pet-heavy as far as points go. I have recipes for a transcendent relic that gives +1 to occultist skils with some other perks or a transcendent relic that gives +1 to demo skills and some other perks.

I've realized that most of my stash is taken up by components. A bunch of commons and some "rarer" ones. Maybe I should start crafting some helpful relics and gear but I don't know where to start. My friend gave me a "Calamity" rune/relic a long time ago but it is now outdated and it seems I can make something that will help my pets or my demo skills (I don't use those much except for flashbang, the aura, and I am trying the mortars [will get rid of those if they suck and probably put those points into my pets]).

Any advice is much appreciated. The Grim Dawn community seems really cool as my last thread got a handful of well thought-out responses.

It's just a way of dividing the relics into tiers. There's a low tier (Empowered), a mid tier (Transcendent), and a high tier (Mythical). Relics within the same tier should be similar in quality. A Transcendent relic will be better than an Empowered one.

Thanks for the quick reply. I just realized I need 2 other relics to make the +1 to occultist skills relic so, I guess I'm a long ways off. There goes my relic boner.

Empowered: Basic relics, the three starters plus others, used as materials for higher relics
Level requirement from 18 to 50
Transcendent: More powerful than Empowered, better stats or skills, mat for higher relics
Level requirement from 35 to 50
Mythic: End game, best stats/skills, better completion bonuses, and you guessed it, mats
Level requirement from 60 to 70

A good relic for pet builds at 55 before killing for days on mythic mats is Savage, which is a transcendent relic. Has pet bonuses, if you wish to keep boosting your pets (which I suggest if you are pet heavy).
Then move into Bysmiel's Domination mythic as the end game (I don't like the passive on Primal Instinct, and you aren't playing a shaman).

As for using your mats to craft helpful items, paying attention to your resistances is something that you will have to do very shortly once you get further into Elite if you aren't having problems thus far. You pick up components, group them into higher tier components, then craft the final tier of component. These you take and add with augments to make yourself resistant/tanky enough to survive what the game has to throw at you.

Edit: Sorry, didn't see Anathema had responded.

The expansion adds a set of level 90 Mythical relics, but they're still in the same tier as the 60 and 70 ones.

Oh ♥♥♥♥, I didn't know there was a 90 set. Gonna need to look in to that..

My Reaper's still using Deathchill, because the next one up (Scourge? I believe; the only one I've found with similar itemization anyway) isn't that good in my opinion. At least not for me; on-hit effects are amazing with auras.

If you wish the updated list, Maroliver.

Sorely disappointed in the itemization of the L90 relics, at least from my Reaper's perspective.

My Phys Blademaster, on the other hand..
