How to install mods?

I seriously can't find anything other than one video where this guy is talking nonsense all the time and i just can't witch this guy without getting aggression issues. (I just wan't a quick guide how to and not 20 minutes of my time wasted with nonsense talk that has nothing to do with the topic D:)

• Download the file.
  
• Cut it from its download location.
  
• Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grim Dawn\mods
  
• Paste the file here. It is likely contained within a .zip, .rar, or .7z file.
  
• Extract the file DIRECTLY into the mods folder. DO NOT have it create an extra folder.
  
• When extracted, it should look like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grim Dawn\mods\NAME OF MOD
  
• If you go into the extracted folder and you see the name of the mod DUPLICATED you did this wrong. Only select Extract HERE or Extract ....

Then start the game and select custom game and you should see what you need to select in the list to play with this mod.

THat's very kind of you :) I am downloading some mods right now and will check out if i got you right. i'll check back here to tell you if im dumb or clever (got it right or not^^)

So, it appears that i'm clever :D Is there anydifference between custom game and vanilla? Besides the mods ofc. Will i be able to get steam achievements?

Basically after you extract it and you go into the extracted folder, in most all cases I believe, you should only see 2 folders contained therein. A folder named *database* and a folder named *resources*.

If you see anything other than these 2 folders then you need to move these folders to be in the root of your extracted folder or they will not show in the game.

Custom games do not get achievements. Custom games are mods and are separate from the main campaign, even if they include the main campaign.

No problem. And remember that any issues you have while playing mods need to be reported in their proper threads on the forum so the actual mod creator can determine if the issue is on their end or not. Do not file bug reports for mods in Crate's Bug Report sub-forum as they have basically washed their hands of any mod creators creations.

The only exception to this would be if it was a bug specifically related to the modding tools themselves.

I did as explained and there are no custom mods showing up under custom maps.
Are the files out dated?
I downloaded Dawn of Heros and Cronus both don't seem to work.

In all likelihood you extracted it into a separate folder instead of extracting it directly into the mods folder? The zip file usually already contain all the files in a folder upon extraction so if you make the mistake of extracting it to: example:: C:\GD\mods\Dawn of Heroes\Dawn of Heroes <--this is no good since you doubled the folder and GD only reads one subdirectory deep in the mods folder looking for the files it needs.

First be double sure you didn't make the mistake of doubles ;)

Need to point out that Powbam's previous post is inaccurate. You do get achievements with mods too.

For some reason after installing the 2 mods the files went hidden, I try to reinstall the mods and it asks me to over write the files in a folder and I can't see them. o.0

Okay, I know this was 3 years ago. But would you still be willing to help someone get this running? I have followed all the steps you said earlier, but don't know what to do after that to 'activate' the mod in game.
