Help. The game won't start after installing the expansion.

Please, help! I just bought the expansion, installed it, but the game won't start! Just keeps "thinking" while on black screen and eventually nothing happens - Grim Dawn not responding. (Winsdows 10 if it matters)

Run Repair.exe in your Grim Dawn install folder. If no change then add /d3d9 to your launch options for the game.

Posted on another topic about the same issue. Same issues, and Repair.exe did nothing, nor did adding /d3d9 in launch options. Last hope is a full reinstall, and if that doesn't help either, then we just have to hope they can find whats causing it for many ppl, fix it and implement a hotfix asap.

After using the repair.exe, d3dx11 crashed for sure. Good job. Game works only with d3dx9, now. Before using the repair exe, I had no menu items on the main menu screen.

I found a solution : Delete "dxdiag" and "options" in My games-Grim dawn-Settings. It worked for me I hope it will work for you.

Repair didn't help. Could you please explain more about how to add this d3d9 to my launch options for the game. Go where, do what exactly..I do not understand that much.. sent already 20 crash reports..:/

in game library, right click on grim dawn and choose "Properties".
Click "Set Launch options"
Write:

/d3d9

in that line that you see.
In short, you can pass various parameters to software launched from steam here. and /d3d9 means that you want to force the use of directX9 to run the game (modern standard is DirectX11 iirc).

I can confirm that sollution. I renamed them. After that, d3dx11 worked again, the game creating them again on start.

And it's "dxdiag.txt" and "options.txt", for those, who have the correct windows-explorer options activated. Just sayin'

YES, deleting files in documents/mygames/grimdawn/seting worked.....than you can adjust your options as you wish, quit and start with no problem.
